It was really happening, they were leaving their homes to go to a place nobody would dream of going to, at least that's what Hope thought.
When the three girls were told that they were being sent off to the boarding school their whole world came crashing down. They had made a life in their town. They were known. People knew their orders at their local cafe without them saying it. They couldn't walk into town without getting at least three hellos.
The girls weren't one hundred percent sure on why they were being sent away, but they had an idea, screw that, they knew exactly why they were getting sent away. The girls hadn't been focusing in their classes, they weren't attending school, they had been doing horrible stuff around town. Jae, the youngest of the girls, had gotten the highest marks in class, but they started going down rapidly as the girls started hanging around with bad people.
Their relatives were aware of it and decided to actually do something about it.
"You have to be joking, ," Karma said, slamming her fist on the table. "You can't just send us away!"
Karma's sister gave her a sad look and shook her head. "I'm sorry Karma, but you guys have been hanging around with the wrong people, we got a call last week that you threw a rock at the local library and wrote horrible stuff in the books!"
Karma laughed as she remembered the scenario.
"Wait, how did they figure out it was us?" Hope asked, worried someone had ratted them out, as they had done worse things than throwing a rock at a library.
"Karma literally signed it with her first AND last name, on like ten of the books." Her sister said to Hope. Jae rolled her eyes.
"You couldn't be any more stupid, could you?" Jae said, looking at her. Karma gave her the middle finger.
Hopes mother clicked her fingers. "Pay attention!" The three girls immediately stopped and looked at her. Hopes mother was the one person they didn't want to mess with, though they were already gone passed that, they were in it deep.
"We barely saved your asses from the police for throwing those rocks, and for destroying those books! Do you know how much that cost us?!" Hope's mother shouted. Nobody said a word.
"Remember the last warning we gave you? We said you three were on thin ice, you aren't even on ice anymore, you're drowning."
The girls hadn't always been like this, they were good kids. Jae had the highest grades, Hope and Karma weren't that far behind. Karma was always mischievous but she wasn't as bad as she is now.
After Hope's mother screamed at them so more, they were told to leave the table and that they were to be leaving in two weeks. The girls all immediately stood up and fled.
Karma closed the front door shut and zipped up her jacket.
"Well shit." Jae said, opening the gate and walking out to the sidewalk.
"Is this actually happening?" Hope asked, closing the gate behind the three of them.
"Clearly, your mother just screamed her heart and soul out to us, and she hasn't done that in a while." Karma said.
"Are you forgetting last week? When we wrote stuff on the teachers desk? And when we put the desks all upsidedown?" Jae reminded her. Karma laughed as she remembered everything they did.
"Hi Karma." Someone said, walking past. Karma nodded at them as they walked past them.
"I'm worried about what Rook will say." Jae said, biting her lip as she thought about what she would say.
"He won't care." Karma said, she didn't mean for it to sound as cold as it did. Hope hit her arm.
"Shut up! You know she likes him you fool!" Hope said to her, frowning. Karma sighed.
"Jae, he'll understand that it's not our choice, so will the others." Hope told her, trying to reassure her.
"I hope." Jae said.
Karma wasn't so sure though, she knew he wouldn't take it well, she knew none of them would, but they had no choice.
