Some time later in the morning and after a few hours since Y/N has left the building to do her errands while Daiki also left to attend a meeting with the pro hero : Hawks. The only three members left inside the hero building were Akio, Mayumi and Hide who all decided to clean up after breakfast and tidy the entire building since they rarely get the chance to take care of their home. Akio took care of cleaning the windows of the entire building and dusting up the furniture inside all the rooms. Mayumi took it upon herself to clean the dishes that they have used for breakfast and tidy up the kitchen. Meanwhile, Hide decided to do their laundry while humming random tunes to himself to pass time.
After a few hours later, the three young heroes have finally finished their household chores as they slumped onto the couch in the living room to take a small break. It was already nearing lunch time and they noticed that both Y/N and Daiki hadn't returned yet so they immediately thought that maybe they'll have lunch on their own.
"Shall we head to the mall? We can have lunch there and go spoil ourselves for a bit while we still have our day off." Mayumi suggested as she just remembered that there's a huge sale at one of her favorite clothing stores today. She's been planning to go there when she has the spare time and it seems like today would be a perfect fit to slip that into her schedule. She also wanted to buy a few pieces of clothing for Y/N so that the two of them can have matching clothes to wear whenever they hang out.
"Sounds like a plan! I've been wanting to go to the movies since last week. How about you, Hide? Wanna come with us?" Akio looks back to his dark-haired best friend who was lying on the floor, taking a small nap to replenish his energy after hours of cleaning the house.
"I-.." Before the leader can even mumble out an agreement to their invitation, his phone suddenly buzzes to signal that someone was calling him. Quickly grabbing his phone out of his pocket and excusing himself, he runs out of the living room and enters the dining area to have a little privacy while he answers the call. He noticed the familiar name of the director of the hero government council was the one calling him so he immediately answered.
All throughout the call, Hide kept his voice quiet as he conversed with the director on the other line. It seems like they were quite having an intense conversation just from watching his posture and the way his eyebrows are furrowed as he talks. Both Mayumi and Akio couldn't help but wonder what their conversation might be about as they peek by the entrance of the dining room, watching as their leader mindlessly paces around the room with his phone placed by his ear. But from what they can tell, it seems to be quite a serious discussion which only deepened their curiosity as they silently wished that it's not serious enough for them to get called back to work on their day off. They silently watch as Hide continues to discuss some matters with the director before leaving him to give him a little privacy as they went back to the living room to further discuss their plans for the afternoon.
Huffing in frustration and disappointment, Hide hung up from the call once it was finished and gently massaged his temples to alleviate his now oncoming headache. Just when he thought he was finally gonna have a decent day off with his friends where he can relax and take it easy for once. But it seems like his hero duties always come to bite him in the ass later when he least expects it. Pocketing his phone, he dejectedly sighs to himself as he leaves the dining area to report back to his friends about his sudden change of plans.
"Sorry guys but duty calls." Hide robotically announces towards his friends, giving them an apologetic look before grabbing hold of his coat as he gets ready to head out for another meeting with the director. His heart broke at the sight of his friends' fallen faces but he managed to hold his tongue and focused on getting ready to leave the building. He too was actually looking forward to spending time with them but sadly, he has to do his job.
Mayumi was just about to argue in an attempt to change his mind about the sudden plans he had made when Akio silently just lays a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from doing so. The android already knows that there's no way that they can change his mind since it was strictly the Director's orders. They know how much their leader respects and strictly follows the rules and orders of those in a higher position than him. Instead of arguing even further, she pouts to herself before taking a seat back down onto the couch beside Akio as they both watch Hide scramble on his steps to leave.
"It's alright, Star. You know how the director is when it comes to hero stuff." Akio tried to console his best friend by softly patting her back, reassuring her that Hide can probably handle whatever task the director has for him.
"It's unfair that Hide always works while we get to have fun. When will the agency realize that he also needs a break?" Mayumi sadly mumbles to herself, disheartened at the fact that Hide wouldn't have the chance to enjoy his day off after a long stressful week. She was quite mad at how the agency keeps working them to the bone and forcing them to train several hours in order to improve their quirks but at the same time, they don't have a choice since they chose this path for themselves.
It's the consequences of becoming a hero a little too early.
But what both Mayumi and Akio didn't notice as they were caught up with the thoughts, was that Hide didn't immediately leave the building and was silently listening on the other side of the door. He was glad to know that his friends care for his well being and how he spends his time, but it was his duty. His duty to serve his country as a hero and use his strength to help others who can't fight for themselves. This was his dream ever since he was a little boy and what he had promised to his mentor, All Might, that he would make him proud despite not having quirks like every other hero.
Hide needed to prove to him and everyone else that he was worthy of having his quirk, One For All.
