A chapter from my other book Kpop Oneshots, but then from Kook's perspective 🥰

Loved writing this one! Words came to me effortlessly at some parts and it just worked. ☺

My life had been fairly plain

My life had been fairly plain. It had been laid out for me since the day I turned 16, and ever since then people had told me what to do, how to behave, how to dress and even though I didn't mind it at first - I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life anyway - it had gotten more and more annoying and frustrating the older I got.

My parents had been on my heels ever since I moved out and when I went to study bussiness management abroad to one day take over the company even more so. I get that they only want the best for me, but I wanted more control over my own life too.

But that all changed on a day. I flew over to the US for a converence/bussiness trip my father send me to. From the second I planted my feet on American soil I felt... different.  Not a weird different, but something told me I was up for something. I didn't get any real time to think about it because before I could walk over to the building of the airport to get my stuff, my phone rang. I reached out to grab the device from my pocket and answered the call.

"Hello?" I said into my iPhone.

"Have you landed yet?" The voice of my mother asked me. I chuckled slightly. "Wouldn't have picked up if I was still in the air."

She huffed out a sigh. I could tell she was slightly annoyed by the tone she used as she told me off for my joke. She had always been nervous for flying and even though it hadn't been her on the plane, fear still overtook her nerves. "Jeongguk that's not funny! Don't make jokes like that."

"Alright, I'm sorry." I told her, nodding to the security people as I stepped over to the baggage carousel to get my stuff. "I've landed safely, nothing's wrong so no need to be scared or worried." I reassured her, knowing that was why she called. "I'll just go get settled into the hotel and go for a walk today, alright?"

"Alright," she replied, sighing with it. "Be safe. Love you!"

After telling her I loved her too and hanging up the call I continued my way, gathering my bags and quickly looking for a free cab once I stood back outside. When I spotted one I held up my hand, waiting until the driver had noticed me before getting in the yellow car. When I told him where to go I leant back, looking outside the window and taking in the American buildings. I had never been here before but it didn't seem all that different from home. Looked like my tutor had been right - tall buildings, a lot of people, buzzing streets.
