What happened to you?

Chapter 6

After the umpire started the game the batter walked up to home plate ready to hit Sawamura's pitch. Sawamura took a deep breath in as he watched Miyuki and waited for him to give him a sign for what pitch to throw. Miyuki looked at Sawamura and gave him the signal to throw a fastball. Sawamura noticed that Miyuki told him to throw a fastball so he threw it and watched as the batter swung and missed.

"Strike 1!", yelled the umpire.

The batter then stepped out of the batter's box and had an angry look on his face. Sawamura felt uneasy when he saw the calm look on the batter's face disappear and the angry look take over his face. Miyuki also saw this look and started to feel nervous when he saw Sawamura look at him with a panicked look in his eyes. He then turned to the umpire behind him and called for a timeout.

Sawamura saw Miyuki come up to him and started to talk when Miyuki cut him off. "Sawamura. You are fine. I'm going to make sure that batter does nothing that can harm you. Just focus on the ball and pitch it to me."

Sawamura was quiet. He didn't know what to say. Miyuki took notice of his silence but the timeout was over.

He pat Sawamura on the shoulder and said, "It's gonna be okay. I'm your partner and I'll never let anything happen to you while we're on this Diamond."

He then walked back to home base and went behind the plate. Sawamura looked at home base with a new found determination in his eyes. The batter saw this and gritted his teeth while walking up to home base. Sawamura closed his eyes and took a deep breath in. He opened his eyes and was ready for the pitch. Miyuki gave him the sign to throw a curveball. Sawamura saw this and got ready to pitch with determination to win this game.
