Everleighs POV

I was stuck helping my dad get ready for Hurricane Agatha. It was horrible. That's one reason why I HATE summer. The hurricanes, all the rich people, with there rich people brunches, and there rich people shit. Did I mention that all the rich people throw a party called Midsummers? It's only the most boring party of the year for an introverted book nerd. I'm on my way to the Carreras house to help her set up a brunch thing. I really don't want to, but my dad expects me to. He said I screw up so much that I need to make up for it by helping her. I don't know what that will do since he'll probably still get mad at me.
I gently knocked on Mrs. Carrera's door. I know her husband likes to sleep in. "Hey Everleigh darling, how are you? Let's go into the back. I've set everything up." She says as she walks out the door. I follow her into the back while making small talk. As we both sit down in chairs, I see Kiara, Mrs. Carrera's daughter, in the kitchen packing food in a cooler. I turn my head just as she looks out the window.
Mrs. Carrera's explaining something, but I'm too busy looking at the ocean to hear a single word she says. I don't know why, but I've always been infatuated with the ocean. The water, the animals, everything about it is just so amazingly beautiful. Mrs. Carrera interrupts my train of thought. "Everleigh, I doubt you want to talk about brunch all day, why don't you go spend some time with your friends" I reply as Kiara walks out the back door, "I can help. It's no big deal" "Nonsense" She exclaims as a boat pulls up at her dock. "Kiara, you're going to hang out with those boys today, right?" Mrs. Carrera questions her daughter accusingly. "Yeah, mom, I am" Kiara responds. "Why don't you hang out with Everleigh instead?" Mrs. Carrera says.
I'm shocked. I didn't expect that. I haven't really talked to Kiara that much, so I have no idea what to do. "No, it's okay I'm sure Kiara is hanging with her friends" I replied trying to get out of this situation. "I don't think that's a good idea mom" Kiara replies, trying not to lose her patience with her mom. "Nonsense" Mrs. Carrera replies, "you will take her with you and that's final." Mrs. Carrera says. Great, I'm stuck with someone who doesn't like me. "Fine," Kiara replies, upset with what her mom is making her do. "Come on Everleigh, the boys are waiting" Kiara replies, walking to the dock where a boat is slowly driving by. "I quickly jump up because I don't want to be stuck with an angry Mrs. Carrera.
As we're walking toward the dock, I look at Kiara. "You can just drop me off at Topper's dock. If that's okay with you guys, of course I don't want to bother you. I bet you have more important things to do with your friends than drag me around and.. " Kiara interrupts my sentence. "No." " What do you mean no?" I question seriously worried. "We'll drop you off at home. I'm pretty sure topper hates you just as much as you hate him." She's right; I absolutely despise Topper, and he despises me just as much. "Yeah, okay" I agree quietly, feeling awkward.
"Oh, top o' the mornin' to ya." The blonde guy I know as JJ says. "Good morning," the other two boys say in unison. " Watcha got? You got some juice boxes?" Pope says "You know, just some yogurt and carrot sticks" Kiara says. "How about my kind of juice box?" JJ says which is honestly really weird and freaky. I'm already feeling awkward and I'm not even on the boat yet. "Yeah, We are gonna drop Everleigh off at her house." Kiara says " What?" Pope and JJ ask surprised. While John B says, "Brace for impact."

Authors Note-
I so wanted to quote Teen Wolf in the fifth paragraph. " No. What do you mean no? I mean no you wanna hear it in Spanish noh." I LOVE that quote. Okay enough with me talking about Teen Wolf.
