Hello Pubbers :

This is usually a very exciting time of the year for the Pub, as we begin our annual Poet of the Year contest, but this year it is mixed with sadness.

The 2021 version of the POY will, in all facts, probably be the last POY held here at the Pub. The recent decline in interest in the Pub has forced Myna and I to reevaluate our vision of the Pub and IF the Pub continues, in the new year, it will be a much different place. It is not a decision either of us wanted to make, but circumstances have dictated such.

We will be letting all know about our plans, early in the new year.

But for now, on to more happy and exciting events, mainly the Poet of the Year contest.

Myna and I have bashed around several ideas for this contest, but in the end, considering this may be the last one, I believe it should be a Poet's choice contest. So, with that in mind, starting tonight, at 12 midnight, we will be holding a three (3) week contest. Over the course of the three weeks, each Poet will be allowed to submit four (4) poems. The poems must be submitted one at a time and there must be at least three (3) days between submissions.

At the end of the contest, Sunday November 21st, there will be a one week voting period. The winner of the POY and the Poem of the Year will be determined by the Poets themselves.

Here are the basic rules for this contest. Please read carefully, as there are some new rules added, specifically for this contest.

The Poet of the Year contest is open to all members of the Poets Pub, including past winners and administration. Basically, anyone can enter.

The contest starts at 12:01 am, November 1st and closes at 12:00 midnight, November 21.

Each poet will be allowed four (4) poems, OF THEIR CHOICE. No restrictions on subject, style or length. But they must be new original poems written for this contest.

Poems must be submitted, ONE AT A TIME, with at least three (3) days between submissions.

During the week of November 22 - 28, voting will be done on all poems.

VERY IMPORTANT

ALL POETS who enter the contest MUST vote on their five (5) favourite poems. If you do not get your votes in by the end of the voting period, your poems will be disqualified.

Pubbers who do not enter the contest can also submit their choices for the five (5) favourite poems.

Once voting is closed, the votes will be tabulated and the results posted in the next Chatter. There will be a winner in the Poet of the Year contest, which will be the Poet that amasses the most votes on his/her poems.

The Poem of the Year will be determined by the Poem that amasses the most votes.

Poems to be submitted in the usual way.

Myna and I wish each and every one of you all the best and hope that this is the biggest participation we see in our contests, ever. So tell all your friends and lets take the Poets Pub out with a bang.
