Today is the first day of the playoffs in the Novice Blue division. The Spitfires finished last in the regular season but that doesn't say much about playoffs. Today would be their first game against the Hurricanes who finished one spot above themselves. They have lost, tied and beat the Hurricanes previously. The game was in anybody's hands.
The first period both teams came out strong and eager to win. The win would make them two points closer to the semi-finals. By the end of the period, the score was 2-0 Hurricanes. The Spitfires did not give up! With only a minute left of the period, the Spitfires scored to change the game to 2-1.
The game was very close, the puck spent an equal amount of time in both ends. The Spitfires got a breakaway, the player took a shot and bounced off the goalie. Luckily, another player acted quick to put the rebounded puck into the net. The game was tied 2-2 for the rest of the period.
Family and friends knew that this wasn't the game of the children's lives but it was still very intense! With two minutes left, the Hurricanes took the lead. Now, with only thirty seconds left, the Spitfires rushed down the ice and put the puck past the goalie. The final buzzer went and both teams earned the point through the tough game.
