05. The Other Fiancè

After reviewing the proposals and budget report, I went home to change for the dinner Jacob was asking. I was late because of the traffic. When I reached the resto, I gave my car keys to the valet and told the receptionist of the reservation.

"Your..." he looked at his watch "20 minutes late"

"Apologies, the traffic was bad." I sat down in front of him.

Wine was poured to my glass.

"Thank you.."

I politely told the waiter.

"So, what is it that you want to talk about?"

I casually asked him. This better be a good news, my head was aching all day long due to the upcoming problems of the company. I was brain-storming with the head of finance and VP of relations for our next step.

Nakatitig sya sa aking kamay. Specifically on my ring finger. I ignored it, I am wearing three rings so I don't think it'll be that noticeable.

"I just want to apologize first on the way I act the other week. Jealousy got the best of me."

"Forgiven. Is that it?" The meals are served afterwards so kept my mouth shut.

"I know now that you're not with William, I've heard his engagement with his long term girlfriend so again, I am sorry."

Buti na lang hindi ako umiinom ng wine kung hindi naibuga ko iyon. Pinigilan ko ang sarili ko na mg mukhang nabigla.

"Good for them, now that you think I don't have a boyfriend, can you sign the annulment papers?"

Kung kanina ulo lang ang masakit sa akin, ngayon parang naubusan ako ng dugo sa katawan.

"Of course, I'll sign them. But can't you give us another chance Maggie?"

"What's done was done. You know I'm not fond of second chances Jacob. You had your chance, you throw it to waste, and you chose the perfect day to cheat."

I sipped on my wine to calm my nerves. I want to leave, but my knees are still shaking.

"I know I was at fault, I'm sorry. I will make it up to you Maggie, please."

"Is that what you want to talk about?"

He was about to answer when his eyes were fixed behind my back.

"Oh look who's here."

I didn't look back, I don't have the strength. My head is still in haywire from what he told me earlier. Is he cheating on me? Maybe that was the reason why he didn't call all day. He got back with his ex. He probably is spending a good night with her.

Jacob stood up at doon pa lang ako napalingon sa tagiliran ko nang abutin nya ang kamay ng lalaking kanina pa nya tinitignan.

"Hi, William, right? Jacob Ledezma and my wife, Margareth Ledezma. I believe you're one of my wife's investor?" 

Doon pa lang ako nakabawi sa pagkabigla. I saw his dark stare pero I put my attention to the girl she's with. She looked like a model, hooded eyes, pink lips, taller than me, even her dress compliments her. 

"Oh hello, Katie Mendez, nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Ledezma." even her smile is sweet. 

I politely smiled and take her hand. "Likewise." 

"Would you like to join us?" Jacob asked the couple in front of us. 

"I'd like to but we're here for a business meeting." William answered, still looking at me. 

"Oh, business meeting huh? In that case, thank you for a little bit of your time, sorry to disturb you." 

I went back to my seat and drank my wine. "So, the annulment?" Sinubukan kong ibalik ang aming topic. 

"I'll sign it" 

"when?" 

"After William married his fiancè." Nanlaki ang mata ko sa sinabi nya. 

"What? Why is he included in this discussion? You're being irrational." I lost my composure, what a total psycho. He can't be serious about this. 

"Until he's married, doon ko pa lang masisigurado na hindi kayo." he smiled sweetly and tried to hold my hand but I removed my hand on the table before he can even reach it. 

I was gritting my teeth, trying to hold back my anger. I kept my self calm, so that he could see reasons. 

"He's not who you think he is. He fucking has a fiancè like what you've said, so what else do you want? I'm fucking tired being tied to you like this, I'm so damn tired, please let me go." 

I wanted to cry out my frustrations and he's being unreasonable right now. He just won't cooperate. 

His stare went to Williams' table. "Oops, looks like it's a meeting with the parents. Don't worry, it's a large news, I'll definitely know if he's married. I will sign our annulment, you can put that into writing. You have my word." 

I tried my best to avoid looking at William's table. I have nothing to do here, I stood up and removed myself from this restaurant without proper goodbye. 

The valet handed me my car and I stepped in the gas to drove away.
