trigger warning ; suicide
Adrian sighs as he watches the news the following morning. Numb and not at all shocked by what he was seeing and hearing.
Sometime between 1 and 2 a.m Adonis had strangled Anastassia to death then shot himself in the basement of their home. He was hurt, heartbroken and lost. Ana was the only woman he had ever loved and to have her ripped away from him by a selfish man was too much for him to handle. He blamed himself and hated that he even gave Ana enough space to think coming back here was a good idea. He should've locked her away and kept her safe.
But he failed.
Even when he tried to save her just one last time.....
He failed again.
He guessed Ana was right, Adonis always gets what he wants on his terms.
Once he's healed from his two gunshots to the torso Adrian is released and heads back home alone. Months go by before he finally finds the courage to clean up Ana's things in the home they once shared. Tears are shed and he almost stops but he pushes through knowing he had to move on with life no matter what.
As he reaches the back of her closet he finds a small black box wrapped with a gold bow, with his name written in cursive. His eyebrows furrow and he doesn't hesitate to unwrap it. Inside he sees a handwritten letter from Anastassia, along with a few pictures of the couple and Ayla.
Dear Adrian,
If you're reading this letter that means that sadly I'm no longer alive. My plan has failed and I'm gone. I'm sure I'm at peace with it as I would have done anything to get my child back. But knowing his father it more than likely backfired.
Inside this beautiful box I spent most of the afternoon making is paperwork I've had drawn up by my lawyer in the event that I don't return back. I can't have Adonis keeping Ayla.
In my will you'll have full custody of her. I wasn't able to get Ayden for obvious reasons, but I feel a little better knowing at least one of my children will be taken care of in a safe, functioning household.
Everything should be airtight, so go for it and fight him hard in court. I have confidence that you will win my love.
Don't be afraid to be happy again.
Don't be afraid to move on and find a woman who will raise my daughter to be as wonderful as I'm sure she will be.
Don't let my mistake of going back weigh heavy on you.
Everything that has happened has been my choice and my possible stupidity.
I love you more than you'll ever know.
Thank you for everything.
Your butterfly,
Anastassia.
"Fuck...." Adrian mumbles as he bites back tears.
He should've known Ana was going to have things in order just in case something went wrong. He was able to see her for the intelligent strong willed woman that she was. And he unlike Adonis never wanted to dim her glow by trying to control her.
He was a stronger man than that.
The only silver lining in this situation was that Adonis was gone and could no longer reek havoc on the lives of those around him. He was going to keep those kids safe, in a functioning environment if it was the last thing he did.
After reading the letter a few more times he pulls himself together and gets ready for the next task.
Finding Ayla and bringing her home where she belonged. He wasn't going to stop until she and Ayden where with him.
The end.
this book is short because, not too much more could've taken place between the two of them.
if you read all three books you a real one.
thanks for following this toxic marriage all the way up until the end.
