Our story starts off at an airport located in Japan as a young Hispanic girl who was searching for her Martial Arts mentor through the packed sea of people. This girl had styled yet spiky black hair with a very dark brown eye color. Her attire was a weighted white and lilac monk-like shirt with spunky light blue shorts with knee-length gray leggings and weighted shoes with the same style of her shirt. She wore these weighted clothes since she was slightly stronger than a normal human despite her size and age. As she continued her search, her cell phone rang and immediately checked who the caller was. It was her mother, most likely checking if she had arrived in Japan safely. This was the usual summer routine, since her energetic and hyperactive personality would often accidentally cause major damage to her surroundings with her unnatural enhanced physical strength and endurance.
“Hello, Mimá. Just landed in Japan and am currently looking for Master Roshi as usual.” She told her mother, “Hopefully he isn’t trying to score ladies once again… Why do you even have him as my martial arts master, Mimá?” She questioned since it was typically embarrassing to be seen around him.
“Luz Dear… You know why. He is meant to teach you how to keep your ‘uniqueness’ from causing harm to others. Also, Martial Arts is a way to teach discipline and spiritual peace, as they say. You know how your own antics tend to go out of control due to your passion for anime and superheroes.” Her mother once again explained to her daughter, “The school has informed me about what had happened with your recent book report presentation… You used Live Snakes that were lost within the school, along with a spider infestation.” She replied with a stern tone that also showed how irritated she was with this.
Her mother didn’t exactly disapprove of Luz’s creative mind and love for these forms of media she grew up with. Yet, she just wished that these amazing talents of hers wouldn't result in isolation from others and make it almost impossible to befriend anyone. The kids within her age group regularly found her as a freak and would often make her life miserable as they bully her. Yet Camilia was grateful and regretful that Luz inherited her Father’s Stubbornness. “Right… but wasn’t there anyone better than the old pervert?” Luz asked with some desperation, but her mother made it clear that Roshi was the only one who specialized in those who rarely shared her enhanced physical abilities.
After saying their goodbyes, Luz hanged up before overhearing a woman slapping some guy while scolding how an old man shouldn’t act the way he does. “HEY, I Am A Wise Elder! Not an Old-Fart! Show Some Respect!” The Old Man shouted in anger. The person was, in fact Master Roshi as he shook his makeshift walking stick at the woman, who just ignored him. Despite his age, he would always wear an extremely heavy turtle shell that didn’t seem to even phase him nor make his back snap like a fragile twig. Upon seeing the old hermit, Luz groaned in annoyance as she approached to painfully yanked at Roshi’s ear as Max did to Brock from the Pokémon Anime Series that would air on TV sometimes.
“That’s enough, Master Roshi… Please let the young lady go before you make more of an embarrassment of yourself, like always…” She told him with clear rage that was shown by a noticeable blood vessel bulging on her forehead as Luz dragged Roshi away from the area. Roshi, on the other hand, was yelping in pain as he tried to persuade Luz to let his ear go. Of course, these pleas were completely ignored by the young girl as they left the airport.
“Hey! What’s the Big Idea, Young Noceda!?” Roshi shouted in anger, “That Is No Way to Greet Your Master!” He lectured his student, who just gave him a glare that caused him to shut his mouth. He quickly cleared his throat before walking Luz to his car. “Anyway, it's good to see you again. How is your mother doing these days?” Roshi asked without any sense of a perverted intent since he had recalled how that went last time. Long story short, it didn’t end well for him. Due to their annual training sessions during the summer break, Roshi grew to view Luz as a granddaughter he didn't get the chance to have.
“She has been doing well and has recently gotten a promotion at the hospital she works at.” She told her master as they got into his car. “Hopefully you have been improving on your major flaw that irritates me to no end, right?” Luz questioned as she glared at him once again. However, Roshi just chuckled it off as the two drove off to Roshi’s Training Grounds, which also was his residence in Japan.
