27. "You and your bloody chicken"

EMMELINE POV:

Harry gets off Buckbeak, the Hippogriff, and the whole class minus Draco and his goons clap and cheer for Harry

"Oh, please", I hear Draco scoff

I turn towards him, only to see him standing up and rolling his eyes. He starts walking forward through the crowd towards the animal, arrogantly strutting.

Draco continues forward, catching the animal's attention. "You're not dangerous at all, are you, you great ugly brute", he mocks the Hippogriff, crossing his arms

Hagrid turns and says, "Malfoy, no!"

Buckbeak gets on his hind legs and Draco shields his face with his arm, allowing his arm to take the blow.

Draco falls to the ground, gripping his arm in pain

"Draco!" I worriedly shout, running over to him

Before I can get to him, I feel someone grab the back of my shirt, holding me back.

"I wouldn't do that. You'll end up just like him, charging at a Hippogriff like that"
I turn and see Ron holding me back, and Harry rushing over to us

I look back up and once Hagrid had distracted the creature away from the students, I shake off Ron's grip and run to Draco

"It's killed me", he dramatically whines

I roll my eyes and gently stroke his hair, causing him to open his eyes

His face relaxes and he says, "Em", before closing his eyes again, clutching his injured arm

"Calm down, it's just a scratch", Hagrid says, leaning over us

Okay, I know my boyfriend is dramatic, but getting kicked by a giant creature like that is a bit more than a scratch, Hagrid.

I roll my eyes, continuing to stroke Draco's hair

"Hagrid! He has to be taken to the hospital!", Hermione shouts worriedly

"I'm the teacher I'll do it", Hagrid replies, easily picking up Draco

"You're gonna regret this", Draco mumbles as he's carried away

"Class dismissed!", Hagrid announces

I grab me and Draco's belongings, and begin following Hagrid and Draco to the hospital wing.

"You and your bloody chicken", I hear Draco say

I can't help but stifle a laugh, watching him be so dramatic.

At the hospital wing, madam Pomfrey told Draco that his arm was broken, but she could easily mend it and send him off in a sling. After that, we walk together towards the common room, having missed our afternoon classes, along with dinner. (Neither of us really mind)

Before we get there however, Draco smirks at me, pulling me down a dark corridor.

"Draco what are you doing?"

"You didn't think I forgot about our private conversation, did you?", he says with an evil grin

I completely forgot I agreed to that

He pulls me over to the painting I discovered last year, and says, "Run Free"

The portrait swings open, allowing us to enter the secret passageway.
