Gulf's pov...
I took my leftover sandwich and rushed out of my house. It was the third day and I was late again. The bus driver already warned me yesterday that if I won't be able to make it on time again, then he will left me and won't wait for me anymore. My school is far from my home so I've to catch that annoying old man's bus. Like....I have to.
I rushed through the alleys and found something strange. There was no one out today. Although it was early winter, it wasn't that cold so that people can't come out. The alleys in my route were always in hustle bustle kind of situation, but today everything was silent. As I was getting late I didn't paid much attention to it and dragged my feet as faster as I could.
Turning to the right, I could see my bus stop. I stopped at my regular spot and started waiting for bus. The watch was showing 6:35. I wasn't that late. Just 5 minutes. As I calmed myself down totally, I saw I wasn't alone at bus stop.
A pale skinned, tall boy was standing lifelessly at a corner. I was watching him through the partial layer of fog coming out of my mouth. The weather was cold enough to freeze you if you aren't wearing any warm clothes or any muffler. And he wasn't wearing any.
He was just standing there, head hung low, looking at a unspecific direction. And then, he suddenly moved his head to my direction making me realise that I was staring at him for good 5 minutes.Something was there in his gaze. His eyes were hollow as if there's no life in them, his face was pale white as if there's no blood in his veins. His eyes were not shifting at all and were staring right into my soul. I wasn't feeling right. I wanted to look away but something kept stopping me.
"Uh...hi!" I waved my hand nervously in his direction trying to chase the awkwardness away.
He didn't waved nor he utter a word. But he grinned at me. The smile sat on his face made its way from one ear to another, his perfect teeth and lined lips were enough to scare me. Yes, it was creepy. Someone you dont know, is smiling at you so widely yet so creepily.
I just smiled back and looked away, my back was now facing him.I checked my watch again. It was showing 6:45 now. I was confuse as hell now. The bus on my route never take this much time. That old man is so particular about timing. My school will get start by 7:30. Where the hell is this driver today?
"Are you waiting for bus?"
I flinched in surprise and jumped. I looked behind and saw that boy was now standing right behind me. When did he came near me? His pure white skinny hands were glued against his bag's strips hanging on his back. He still was grinning at me widely, eyes never leaving mine."Y-yes! You t-too?" I don't know when I started shuttering but I was scared. His behaviour wasn't looking normal. Even if his behaviour was normal according to him, his face, skin were all different from a normal human. May be it's just because he isn't wearing any warm clothes. I noticed the left collar of his shirt was crimson red in colour while the whole shirt was white. What kind of shirt is that? Is that dirt or blood? No, that cant be blood.
"Uh....aren't you feeling cold? Why aren't you wearing sweater or anything?" I asked him to avoid my thoughts.
May be he's just a normal person."The bus won't come." He replied. I snapped up and looked at him in confusion. "What do you mean? It's a working day plus my school is gonna start soon. And how do you know? Ehh...what's your name by the way?"
I threw all my question towards him at once and then realised I don't even know his name. So I threw one more question."You should go home. The bus won't come today." He replied again with the same thing.
May be something is wrong with his mind. I tried asking him something else but he replied with the same thing again.
At last, I gave up because his pale face has now blue puffed out veins. And I noticed that he wasn't blinking at all. He was just staring at me from the start and that wierd smile wasn't leaving his face anytime."Okay! A-anyways....here!" I removed my first layer of jacket and gave it to him. I was already wearing two sweaters so it was okay for me. May be his mind wasn't working because of cold and lack of warm clothes. "Wear this. It's cold. I'm going home."
For the first time, his eyes stopped staring at me and travelled towards my hands carrying a jacket. He looked at it and came back at staring me. If there's a word for smiling wider then I'll use it here, as he grinned more wider than before. He tilted his face in one direction and his eyes grew big. It was the highest limit for scaring the shit out of me. I forced my jacket onto his hung shoulders and took big steps towards my house.
While walking, I could feel his wierd stare at the back of my head. I knew it. I knew he was still looking at me while smiling. I noticed the atmosphere wasn't good. The cold air was acting like knife, cutting and bleeding my ears and face.
I started running towards my house. First, I was feeling cold and Second, I was afraid if that stranger was still following me.After what felt like years, I reached my home and locked it after me.
I removed my sweaters and left myself in a shirt. I prepared some sticks for good and warm fire and warmed myself.
A good half and hour passed and I was all warm and comfy now. It took me time to forget about that incident happened with me at bus stop. Although I wasn't over with it, I tried to divert my mind by switching on the TV.I turned the TV on and the first channel was News. I didn't liked to watch News so I decided to switch it to some movies or series. I was about to change when something caught my attention.
The News was about some accident. The reporter was showing all the live scenes of accident. But that didn't caught my attention. The thing was, the vehicle which was involved in accident was the bus which used to come at my stop. The bus I was waiting for, to go to school. Yes, it was that bus. It was all crushed from the front side and lying horizontally on road, with shattered pieces of mirrors everywhere as shown on TV."Because of bad weather and fog, the driver lost his balance. As the bus was on high speed, he wasn't able to control it. Hence, the accident happened causing the death of the bus driver along with 3 passengers. 15 passengers are severely injured and others have some bruises. As you can see the live session of the accident post view with the help of my colleague reporter......"
My mind stopped working for a minute when I heard the News. I wasn't able to process anything. The bus I always took for going to school, that annoying old man, he died. The bus went into an accident. And suddenly....I remembered something.
"The bus won't come today."
That wierd stranger told me that the bus won't show up today. How did he knew? Is this has something to do with him?
I was lost in my thoughts while furrowing my brows when I snapped back to TV."The driver who died was 50 years old."
And then they showed his photo before accident. These reporters are fast enough in getting information and searching about people. I thought."...And the three passengers who died belonged to the area near the accident. The two of them were in their late thirty fives and were workers. And the third one was a student." And then they showed all the three person's photos.
My hands went numb. My eyes went wide, a tight knot formed in my stomach and it was painful. My heart stopped beating and I felt like throwing up.
I felt dizzy, I was paralysed.
The third one, who was a student, was the picture of that stranger. That stranger whom I met at bus stop. The reporter was showing him dead. But how could this he possible? I met him. I did.I jumped on my couch and fell down on floor as someone rang the bell. My parents went for a trip. They can't be home this soon. So, who was it. I was already scared. But I gathered my courage and went to the door.
I dragged my self to the door after I volume down the TV. I peeked through the hole in my door. There was no one. Slowly, I opened the door and peeked out through the smaal creak like space I made myself. I saw nothing but then my blood ran cold. As...I saw my jacket...lying lifelessly in front of my front door.
