That Saturday I had the day already planned.

I was not going to leave the house, not respond to any texts, and lay in bed to catch up on sleep.

My tiny seven hundred square foot flat was decorated just to my liking, plants and warm colors.

I had first woken up at eleven, made myself breakfast and sat in my window sill starting out at the world, when my phone rang.

I turned over my phone and look at the illuminated screen. The text read 'Mallory'

My finger hovered over the accept call button, debating it for a moment.

 I hang up.

I place my phone down and go back to gazing out the window. It was raining again today. My window was blurred from the rain and cool to the touch.

My phone stated to buzz a second time, assuming it was Mallory, I turn my ringer off without looking at it.

Not even thirty seconds after, I feel it buzz a third time. If it is Mallory, she wouldn't call three times if it wasn't urgent.

Begrudgingly, I grab my phone and answer.

"Hello?"

"Edlyn?" Mallory's voice is quiet and shaky.

"Mallory, is everything alright? You sound awful."

A few sniffles come from the other end. "Are you crying?"

"Scott and I... we got into a really big fight." My jaw tenses, I really don't like Scott.

"Oh god." I say under my breath, standing up and walking in a circle.

"It was really bad Edlyn, he kicked me out and I have nowhere to go."

"Come over here, right now." I tell her sternly.

"I'm so cold too, he won't answer my calls." She whimpers.

"Don't call him. Just come over here, I'll make coffee and let you change clothes. A shower too."

She sniffles. "Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother."

I roll my eyes and chuckle. "You're not being a bother, I promise. Now get your ass over here."

I hear her laugh sadly, which makes my anger slowly drift away. "Okay. Thank you, I'll be there in thirty minutes."

"See you here." I say before hanging up.

After I've hung up, I run a frustrated hand through my hair, which was in a ponytail until now.

For the next thirty minutes I tidy up everything. Make my bed, clean the dishes, brush out my hair, I even sweep.

I know Mallory wouldn't care if my flat was a mess, but I also know that being in a clean environment is good for people who are struggling.

Not long after I finish, there's a knock at my door. I hurry to open it. Mallory stands in the doorway shivering and wet, from the rain and crying.

I quickly wrap her in an embrace. She's expressionless, but accepts it.

"C'mon in, I've already started the shower and the coffee is almost done." I take her hand and shut the door behind her.

Mallory thanks me as I hand her some sweatpants and a sweater. We're lucky we are the same size.

We have a routine for when Scott and her get into a fight. It starts with her calling me, crying, she ends up here and we have a day sitting on the couch and taking.
