"I'm sorry boys. But work calls." Federico apologized sincerely looking at both of us as we three stood at the airstrip, the DeVito jet standing at a distance in all glory behind Federico.
We had spent the afternoon at a local pool club, catching up on life and then somehow ended up in a night club before Fede recieved a call and here we were now, on the airstrip.
"So you mean the Cartel work and not the car racing season coming up?" Gianni asked raising his eyebrow.
"Dude! The F1 season is here! There's no way I'm not participating." Federico jumped on his feet as he mentioned about the race.
"So that season is more important than us?" Gianni raised both his eyebrows feigning hurt and shock.
"Awh! Gios." Fede whined. "You know you both are here," he held his hand above his head while standing on his tippy toes. "In my level of priorities."
"Yeah. Yeah." Gianni rolled his eyes playfully. "But don't come to us when Artemis is on your back, hunting you down." Gianni said walking away to the car trunk, standing at a distance.
"Should I be worried?" Fede whispered to me.
"I'd be if I were you." I smirked internally at his discomfort.
Now is the right time.
"Federico." I gained his attention, making him turn to me. "Did you find anything?" My voice was low and hushed.
I witnessed his face change from a happy cheerful one into a stotic one, one void of positive emotions.
"I'm sorry, Dima." His voice resembling mine, and an answer I knew but didn't want to hear. "I wish I had something. Trust me, I'm trying me best. I'm doing everything I can."
"I know, Fede." I sighed, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"He's going to be pissed when he finds out we've resumed the search." He tipped his chin in our friend's direction, who was currently pulling out Federico's suitcases.
