Upon realizing what you had just done, you immediately pulled away, parting your lips from each other with a small popping sound. The two of you remained motionless as stones, looking at each other in complete silence.

Zipp looked surprised, but not at all angry at your sudden attitude. Her beautiful eyes seemed to glow even more than before. Even so, you didn't know what to do or what to say to her being so embarrassed, but you knew you couldn't just stand there forever.

"Oh my, I don't know what got into me, I'm really sorry I shouldn't..." You apologized, turning your back to her and wanting to bury your head in a hole.

Suddenly you were startled when she grabbed your shoulders and turned you back to her. She smiled at you. You smiled back and felt your cheeks redden again.

"Don't feel that way, I'm not mad." She calmly clarified, looking you in the eyes the entire time.

You breathed a sigh of relief, your heart overflowing with happiness as you realized that she didn't reject your feelings, even though she didn't seem as completely in love with you as you were with her.

But she certainly felt something for you, even if it was a small spark, it was a start and you were so happy about it.

"Want to go back to the ball? I don't want to, but our relatives must be missing us already." She said.

You reluctantly agreed, as you had something of utmost importance to tell your uncle.

Meanwhile, Pipp tried to get back to the ball without anyone noticing that she had left, while cautiously looking out so she wouldn't run the risk of being seen. Suddenly, as she was about to enter the ballroom, she was startled when she saw her mother in front of her.

"May I know where you were, miss?" Haven asked in a grim tone of voice.

Pipp couldn't help but stutter in nervousness as she thought of an excuse to make up for her mother.

"You weren't with that famous Internet pegasus again, did you?" She asked.

"What?" Pipp exclaimed, feigning indignation. "Mom, you know I never disobey you, I just went to the bathroom." She answered.

"And what was the reason for taking so long there?" Haven asked again.

No time to come up with a better excuse, Pipp said the first thing that came to her mind.

"... It's just that I ate too many canapés, you know how they can be..."

"But weren't you on a diet?" The older pegasus interrupted her.

"... Yes I was, I had a relapse, but can you blame me? They looked sooooooo appetizing."

Realizing that she had unwittingly found an excuse, Pipp used and abused her acting talent to convince Haven, which somehow worked.

She breathed a sigh of relief and then began to think of the next excuse she would need to give.

Time skip...

After the end of the ball, the employees started cleaning the dirt that was left on the ballroom floor, the guests who lived close by went home and those who lived far away soon began to be installed in the guest rooms.

You didn't even get a chance to say goodnight to Zipp, she must have been so tired.

"Please Star Rider, accompany them to the floor where their rooms are." The queen asked one of her servants to show your family where they would spend the night.

"Wait uncle." You called him.

"Yes my dear?" He asked, with a satisfying smile on his lips, she had probably accepted the proposal. He looked so happy, you almost didn't have the courage to tell him what you were going to say.

"Can we talk alone?" You asked. "It's very important."

"Aren't you two coming?" Your aunt asked, seeing that he and you weren't going with the rest of the family to settle down.

"Oh we'll go soon, dear, Y/N has an important matter to talk to me." He explained.

Your aunt, sister and cousins went to their rooms, while your uncle and you went to the castle garden to talk about what you wanted.

"So what do you want to talk to me about?" He asked you, sounding very understanding, which made you a little less guilty.

"So I met one of the princesses today." You said.

He immediately seemed to perk up when you said that.

"Is that so? Which one?" He asked.

"I think it's the oldest." You answered.

"Oh, Zephyrina?"

"Zipp, she likes to be called Zipp." You clarified.

"Fine, but what does she have to do with what you want to talk to me about?" He asked, a little confused.

"It's just that I'm completely in love with her." You confessed, letting your strong feelings surface. "And I think she likes me too."

"Wow, this is wonderful, dear!" Your uncle exclaimed happily, while gave you a hug. That meant he was really happy, it would be hard for you to tell.

"And... That's why I can't marry her." You answered, which left him in shock, but at the same time he was confused.

"What? But how? Why? Don't you like her?" He asked, amazed that you changed your decision to be married so quickly.

"Of course I like her, I like her more than I've ever liked another pony in my life." You clarified. "And that's why we can't get married, at least not now, she doesn't like when everything is happening so fast."

Gallus didn't know what to do. You were the key to him fulfilling his long-held dream of regaining friendship with the other species of ponies, previous attempts had been futile.

It was then that he decided that he would have to take drastic action if he wanted his plans to work.

"But who says she doesn't want to marry you?" He asked with a smile.

"What does that mean?" You asked curiously.

"I spoke to her mother, she also fell in love with you and wants to get married as soon as possible." He explained in a cheerful tone of voice.

You couldn't believe it, you were so happy to hear those words, that you thought you were dreaming.

"Is this true?" You asked, grinning from ear to ear.

"Of course it is, otherwise I wouldn't tell you. Oh, but you can't comment on that to her." He asked.

You got confused again and raised an eyebrow. After discovering that, your greatest wish was to go to Zipp, tell her how much you loved her and that you also wanted to marry her as soon as possible.

"Why not? Very soon we'll be fiancées, right?" You said.

"Yeah, but she'll be keeping it from you because she wanted it to be a surprise. You shouldn't know." He explained. "But now that you know, you have to pretend you don't know anything, okay?"

"Okay uncle, thank you so so so much for telling me, I've never been happier before." You thanked him.

Even though Plan B was working just fine, Gallus felt terrible and very guilty lying like that to one of the apples of his eye.

But sacrifices had to be made.
