I walk home, starring at my black converse which were incredibly filthy while listening to my music. The sound of Girl In Red ran through my ears. I turn to go down my street and took out my ear wax filled earbuds. I turn the freezing cold handle and walk into my house to see River sitting on the couch with my two brothers Ashton and Mathew.

"Let me guess, mom's not home," I said.

"Yep," River said.

I pause for a second "Nothing new, I'm heading to my room," I said as I walk down the hall to my room.

From the corner of my eye I can see River's concerned face.

River and I have basically been like best friends since we were young. Even before our dad passed, they were always there for me, and I was always there for them. They can always tell when something's up or when I'm feeling down and I can tell the same for them.

I remember when people would bully them, I stood up for them. That's what a sister does, stands up for her younger sibling. There's been times where she can tell when I'm disappointed and upset about something too.

I flopped on my bed and let out a sigh. I thought she was the one for me but apparently not. I gaze up at my lesbian flag on my wall. The beautiful orange, white and pink colours. I go to my spotify to listen to music. I fall asleep, not giving a care in the world about Mia. Mia, what a beautiful name, it matches her eyes and her light hair. Even hearing the name Mia felt great. Then, I was asleep.

I wake up to hearing the front door knocking. I jump out of bed and stepped out of my room. I turn the corner to seeing River opening the door for mom.

"I know it's a Sunday and I'm so sorry I had to leave for so long," Mom says. I smile

"It's ok," I said. "Well anyways, I brought pizza home for dinner," Mom says.

My stomach aches, I don't really feel like eating, the smile gets wiped off my face.

"Mom, I'm not really that hungry," I say as she looks at me confused. I turn around and head back to my room.

I lay back in my bed and checked my phone. A Discord notification popped up as I hear the specific, satisfying Discord ringtone on my phone, it was from Mia. "Hey," it said. I didn't really want to respond but I did.

Amelia

"Hi"

"How was ur date"

Mia

"Terrible, he broke up with me"

At that moment I had a sigh of relieve but I felt the pain she was feeling. She was going to be upset and I'd hate to see her like that. I thought about what to say, I decided to be sympathetic and empathize for her.

Amelia

"oh"

"that sucks, are you ok?"

Mia

"kind of, I saw it coming and was aware it would happen soon"

Our text conversation went on and on for what felt like forever, it felt amazing. We had some laughs and some tears during it. She was single now but just broke up with someone, the big question I was wondering but didn't have the guts to ask was, is she straight?
