It was a calm peaceful fall day. The wind was whistling and trees were dancing. I slip on my black high-top converse, plaid jacket, and cuffed jeans. I grab my money and homework. I step outside as wind blasts into my eyes and blows ruffles my hair.
I walk to the Starbucks near my house open the door as the door feels like it feels like it's about to fall off.
"Hey, can I please have a Carmel macchiato and banana bread," I say to the worker working there.
"Anything else," the worker said. I shake my head. She tells me the price and hands me my banana bread. I wait to the side for it. She eventually hands me my drink as my hand freezes, and I shiver.
I head to the door to open it, but I bump into someone as I feel the coldness in my hands stop and my papers all over the floor.
"I'm so sorry," I hear a girl say to me.
I looked up and saw a beautiful angel, her eyes sparkled like an ocean and hair blowed.
"Oh, uh, its ok," I said as I stuttered.
She picked up my papers trying not to get them mixed up with hers.
"Hey, how about I buy you a new drink, want help with homework we can head to the park to work on homework," she said.
"Sure" I say as I nod. I agree and went along with her
We went back into the store and ordered. She bought me another drink and one for her too. We started to leave, and she opened the door for me, and we walked out.
"So, what's your name," I ask.
"My names Mia, what's yours" Mia said.
"Mines Amelia," I say.
"Thats a beautiful name" Mia said.
Those words run through my head as a smile shines on my face. It feels like I was in cloud 9.
We arrive at the park and sit under a tree with red, orange, and yellow colors. Late September, the start of fall.
"Hey, aren't you in my bio class," Mia asks me.
That is why she looks familiar.
"Oh ya, I am," I say.
"Hey, do you have Discord or Snapchat," I ask.
"I have Discord," Mia said.
We ended up sharing each others Discord.
We started by studying for an upcoming bio test we have since we're in the same bio class.
"Hey, I don't understand this," I said.
"Oh, I do," Mia says.
She leans in and tells me what to do. Except for the fact I cannot focus on what she is saying, all I hear are mumbling words. I started to turn red, her beautiful ginger hair, her voice, her smell, everything about her.
"So do you understand," she says as she sits back and looks at me.
"No not really," I say as we look at each other dead in the eyes.
She smiles, "That's ok" she says as she tells me again, this time I am listening.
A few hours have passed and now we have finished our homework and are just sitting there getting to know one another.
"Who's your favorite musician," Mia asks me.
I thought about it for a second.
"Actually, I think my favourite is Girl in Red, my favourite song might have to We Fell in Love in October," I say.
"Hey, that's my favorite too," Mia says.
We glance at each other and look each other dead in the eyes. I cannot get over those ocean eyes, the way her hair blows in the wind like it is light as a feather, the way she smells like rain on a chilly night, everything about her.
"So, what's your home life like? Do have siblings?" I asked.
Mia looks down at the ground sad and somber. Her mood changed fast.
"Or, you don't have to answer that if you don't want to," I say.
"No, it's fine, I can say," she says as she looks up at me.
"My parents aren't the best, they're homophobic, they don't respect boundaries and are very mentally abusive. They are the type that if a whole pandemic came around, they would think it is a total hoax. For siblings, my older brother moved out, he could not stand living with them," Mia says.
I look at her, such a beautiful girl with a terrible home life, you would not be able to tell.
"Hey, I'm sorry for that and if you want someone to talk to, I'm here," I say to her.
Mia looks up at me in tears. "What's your home life like," Mia says.
"Well, its chaotic. My dad passed away when I was 10, I have 3 other siblings, 2 boys and a non-binary sibling. My mom met a boyfriend a few months ago, she's been really happy but focusing on her boyfriend so me and my sibling have to take care of the 2 boys," I say. She looks at me, silent like a mouse in the night, speechless.
"I, I'm sorry you have to deal with that," Mia said.
Right after I hear a text message on her phone.
"Sorry I have to go, my boyfriend and I are going on a date," Mia said.
My heart stopped, not only was she already dating someone, but she is also dating a boy.
"Oh, bye," I say as a fake smile crosses my face.
She walks away, I could feel tears running down my cheeks. The smile wipes of my face and I felt like I have been hit in the gut. The tears come running down, my face started to freeze and I can see my vision getting blurry.
