"It's true," the blond continued, expression completely serious. "I wouldn't lie to you. You're very handsome."
"Oh my god," George put his head in his hands, completely embarrassed and very clearly flustered. "Thank you..."

It was almost 4 am, and George was just waking up. He groaned softly, mumbling under his breath. It was way too early to be awake.
However, it was for a good cause. Clay and George had made plans to meet at 4 am outside George's house, so they could watch the sunrise together. Clay knew a good spot they could go, and George thought it sounded nice, despite his inability to see all the colors.
George's phone lit up with a text from Clay.
Clay: I'm outside
George jumped out of bed, tiredness forgotten. He was genuinely excited to watch the sunrise with Clay, it sounded like a very personal and private moment for the two to share.
George hopped onto the windowsill, letting his legs dangle for a moment before he sucked in a breath and jumped, hitting the ground with a soft thump. The brunette stumbled a bit, but regained his balance and made his way over to Clay's car, getting in the passenger seat.
Clay looked up from his phone, smiling. "Hey, Mattie!"
"Hi Clay," George greeted, smiling. The blond put his phone down, looking George up and down for a moment before starting to drive.
"Oh, I figured you'd be tired, so I brought you a coffee. I didn't know what you liked, so it's got cream and sugar in it... hope that's ok," Clay shrugged, pointing at one of the cups in the cup holder. George smiled softly, picking up the coffee with both hands and sipping it carefully.
"Thank you," he murmured, cupping his hands around it. Clay nodded.
"No problem. I usually drink iced coffee myself, but it's getting colder out, plus it's really early, so..." He trailed off.
"If it wasn't so early, I would probably drink iced coffee too," George sighed. "But you're right, hot coffee is alright on a cold morning." Clay hummed, driving up a hill and turning into a dirt parking lot.
"We're here, and just in time, too. Look." He pointed at the horizon, where the sun was just starting to poke out over the earth. "C'mon, lets go get a seat. I brought a blanket for us to sit on."
They both got out of the car, Clay grabbing the blanket quickly before they started walking. The sky was still a dark bluish-blackish color, but lightening by the minute.
George stared up at the sky wistfully. He wasn't mad about being colorblind, but sometimes he wished he could see what other people saw. As much as he loved the color blue, he'd like the chance to experience color like everyone else.
His gaze turned to Clay, who was laying out the blanket for them to sit on. George wished to see his eyes as green, not as yellowish-brown. Being colorblind sucked sometimes.
"Mattie, come sit!" Clay's voice startled him from his thoughts. Smiling sheepishly, George sat down next to the blond, and they watched the sun rise up over the horizon in a blast of pinks, reds, oranges, and yellows.
They sat together in silence, just watching the sunrise. George was leaning on his arms a little, palm flat against the ground. Clay snuck his hand closer to George's, brushing his fingers against the smaller boy's.
George was immediately flustered, eyes darting between their hands and his lap. Hesitantly, George flipped his own hand over, letting their fingers tangle together. He let out a quiet, but shaky breath, both of them continuing to watch the sunrise in silence.
Clay was the one to break the silence. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" He murmured, letting his gaze slide over to the brunette sitting next to him.
"Yeah, I guess," George shrugged. Clay's smiled faltered for a moment, but returned once George continued. "It's nice being here, with you..." He trailed off, eyes pointing downwards. "I don't know. Thanks for bringing me here." Clay chuckled softly.
"Of course. I just found it recently, and I thought, 'who better to share it with than Mattie?'" Clay grinned. "I was really looking forward to this, actually. I'm glad it went the way it did." George giggled quietly, looking up at Clay with a smile.
"Me too." He had a rosy blush on his cheeks, and so did Clay- but if asked, both of them would pass it off as the chilly morning temperature.
"We have some time before school starts... would you like to do anything? I could drive us somewhere, or we could stay here, if you'd prefer," Clay offered. George nodded, humming.
"I wouldn't mind staying here. Although, it is pretty cold... I don't know."
"If you're cold we can go sit in my car and turn on the heat. We don't have to leave if you don't want to," Clay suggested, standing up and offering his hand. George nodded, grabbing onto the blond's hand and helping himself back to his feet.
"Sounds good to me," George agreed, following Clay back to the parking lot. The two boys hung out in the car, heater running on low to keep them both warm. There was maybe 10 minutes left before they had to leave for school, and those 10 minutes were spent mostly in silence, George and Clay both sipping from their coffees and watching each other with quiet admiration.
The blond was, again, the one to break the silence. "Ready to go to school?" George shrugged, humming softly.
"I guess."
I think I realized about halfway through writing this that Florida isn't cold 💀
Whatever I thought it was cute
