Alexis's POV:

I stand near the door paying close attention to alpha Daniel as he speaks to my alpha and Luna. I know he's my mate my wolf is telling me but I blocked her out. I never wanted a mate it will only get you hurt in the end. My wolf knows this that's why she hadn't bothered me since I got hurt she also understands that I do this to protect her from the pain on having a mate. Even worse is he is an alpha I never wanted that I don't want to be in charge I'd rather be in a training field with warriors.

As I pay attention to him Jenny mind links me.

"Hey you okay?" She asks.

"I'm fine Jen" I say softly.

"He's your mate isn't he?" She asks.

"Yes he is Jen I don't want that you know I don't like the idea of being a leader I'm fine being a warrior and as a Luna I can't do that I don't want that" I sigh through the mind link.

"I know Lex but you'll have to talk to him about that you never know unless you try" she tells me.

"No end of discussion I don't want a mate I never have all that comes form it is hurt" I says and tune back in to the conversation. I notice him looking at me and I give a little glare. He seems taken back by this gesture and goes back to talking to my alpha.

I mind link him for a moment. "Alpha I need fresh air may I be excused" I ask him through mind link this immediately telling him something is wrong since I never ask to be excused especially when meeting someone new.

He looks directly at me and notices something and nods. "Alexis go get some fresh air we will be just fine" he says directly to me.

"Thank you alpha" I say softly my voice full of respect and I leave quickly rushing outside and to the woods surrounding the area leaning on a tree I slide down holding my head.

Daniel's POV:

I watch after my mate as she leaves and look back to alpha Jackson. "May I ask what that's about?" I ask him.

"She does have trouble with new people a lot of things happened where it took years for my father and I as well after becoming alpha to gain her trust she had a terrible alpha before my father who had tried to force himself on her simply for the fact her family was rouges who had joined the pack, after this she never trusted alpha's or people above a gamma again and even then she has killed to protect my mate and would probably do so again if she had to" he explains. "The rest is up to her to tell you when my father had taken over she was chained up in the dungeon cells with silver chains on her arms, ankles, and around her neck along with a shock collar she was beaten and bruised and wasn't healing right because the silver didn't let her as well as wolfsbane and she locked her wolf away so that she wouldn't be in pain and it would only affect her."

I nod softly. "Meeting dismissed we can continue later your free to stay here we have multiple rooms still open" I offer them.

"That would be lovely thank you alpha Daniel" Jenny says.

"Not a problem Derek here will show you both to your room" I say and nod to Derek to do just that before going out to find my mate again following her scent. I feel my heart break when I find her hugging her knees hands covering her head. I notice she tenses when I walk over. "I came to see if you were alright" I say softly.

"I'm fine" she gets up brushing off she doesn't look at me though.

"Um okay your Luna and alpha had agreed to stay for a bit not sure how long if you would like I can show you the training grounds I heard you where the best warrior to this day?" I ask.

"Sure and I guess you could say that about me it's just my duty to protect my alpha and Luna and pack" she says softly as I lead her to the training grounds.

"I hear you turned down a beta position offer May I ask why?" I ponder.

"That I did I didn't want it I have pent up anger towards my family that is better getting out as a warrior they are rouges again and I was the one to warn my pack about their betrayal the day they left and were banished I told them if I see them again near my pack I would kill them without hesitation and I meant it" she answers. "I'm not one for lies alpha Daniel I don't like them and if I find out I've been lied to consequences aren't fun for other people, I'm prone to being loyal the total opposite of my family and I prefer to keep it that way." She tells me.
