The game was soon over and Kiyoomi had taken notes in his mind of the strategies. After the game, the team made their way to the food court and sat down on the spare table.

The team talked about what they'd noticed but into the first course atsumu limped off to the locker room, cradling his stomach. Sakusa noticed the sick look on the boys face and decided to follow him.

He threw his utensils down onto his bowl that followed with a loud clank earning looks from the black jackals. "I'll be back in a second." He said, a hint of aggression in his voice. "Okay..." Shugo replied with, awkwardly.

Sakusa pushed his chair back and bowed before walking to the locker rooms with pace. He didn't enter, just stood behind the door, stealthily and unseen.

He heard the rattle of a container and the scrunch of a plastic bottle. His eyebrows narrowed as he turned to go inside. But Miya quickly hid the items behind him in a matter of seconds. "O-oh hey omi!" he stuttered as a bead of sweat began to form on his temple. "What're you doing in here dumbass?"

"Oh nothing. Just getting a drink."

Atsumu fumbled with the water and slipped it into his bag. He clearly and obviously held the container to his wrist and under his sleeve. "What's that?"

"What's what, omi?"

As atsumu walked towards him, a crooked and weary fake smile on his lips. Sakusa fiercly grabbed his wrist and pulled his sleeve up his arm. He took the container from his hand and gazed into his eyes. "This."

Miya's eyes began to well up with tears as he bowed his head, stared at the floor in shame and pulled back his wrist from Kiyoomi's hard grip.

Kiyoomi clicked his tongue and brought the container closer to his eyes. The container was made of a white plastic and a green label wrapped around the cylindrical pot. A messy frown was now drawn on his face when he read the six words,

Chemotherapy tablets. Take only as advised.

Wait. Chemotherapy... That could only mean...

"Atsumu. Don't lie to me okay? Its literally staring me in the face. You have... Cancer...?" Sakusa said with careful undertone and concern written all over him.

Atsumu looked up at the black haired boy to see that his own eyes were full of tears and nodded a shaky and devastated nod. More water droplets flew down his cheeks when he threw just his head onto Kiyoomi's shoulder. "Atsu what the hell are you doing here then? You should be at home."

"I-I don't want to sit in a bed and watch my life go by, omi. I-I want to live and play volleyball. I've always wanted to go pro and be the best setter in the world. But I just can't do it can I. I-its getting worse omi. And i-it really hurts." He said as he sobbed and bawled into sakusa's shoulder.

"Tsumu... Can I ask where...?"

"Pancreatic cancer. S-stage two..."

"You need to go home. Right now. How long have you been playing since you were... diagnosed?"

"W-Well I got diagnosed about 7 months ago b-but I still played and I didn't tell anybody apart from samu."

"And osamu let you play?"

"He doesn't know I was playing. I just told him I'd tag along..."

"Idiot. I'm telling Shugo and we're getting the train home." He said as he grabbed both of their bags and started walking down the corridor, a still emotional Miya twin slowly walking behind him. "Kiyoomi we can't leave! The games barely started and we haven't even played yet!"

"I don't care. I'm getting you home."

"Omi y-you can't."

"Atsumu look at me. You've got canc- you're sick alright? Really really sick and I don't want you to make yourself worse. You should've at least told me. You trust me right?"

"O-of course I do."

"Then tell me next time if something big like this happens. You're an idiot for not saying bull crap to anyone so just shut up and do what I say." He said as he and atsumu stormed into the food court. Sakusa tapped Shugo on the shoulder and walked him outside whilst atsumu hovered above hinata, shion and bokuto who were diving into their meals.

"What's up man?" Shugo asked. "Look me and Atsu have to drop out. I'm so so sorry Shugo."

"This is our first match dude and you're really gonna miss it? Why? What's going on?"

"I-I can't."

"You can't just leave like that-"

"He's got cancer. And I need to take him home. Please don't spread it I just want it between us."

"I- I wont spread it I swear but thanks for telling me man. Safe journey home. Tell atsumu I said get well soon."

"I will. Thanks Shugo."

"It's okay bud let me know how everything goes."

Sakusa replied with a nod and ran to grab atsumu as fast as he could to avoid being asked questions by the jackals.

They flew out of the centre and made it halfway down the street to the station but atsumu was exhausted from the quick paced walking. He sat down on a free bench said through panted and hitched breaths, "Omi I can't walk. My legs are all wobbly now."

"I hope you're joking."

Atsumu shook his head as sakusa bent down in front of him and sighed. "Yer gonna carry me?"

"Just to the station. Don't get used to it, asshole."

"T-thanks omi."

"Whatever. Come on." Sakusa's back was already loaded with 4 heavy ass bags and a person was only gonna give him pain in the next morning.

So atsumu slid onto sakusa back, his legs dangling around his waist and his head lay safely on his collarbone.

When they got to the station, the train was already there and they barely made it in time. But sakusa hopped on and carefully tipped his back to let atsumu sit down. But the boy was out cold. He was asleep again.

After a very long 3 and a quarter hour train journey, Sakusa carried him home and osamu was there to look after him.
