The next day
Sakusa thought about the email. What benefits would it have to him? He hates kids. Why would he? Because his boyfriend wanted him to...?

You know what, I'll get credit for it. And I could probably sneak off to one of the spare gyms... To practice alone.

He changed into his uniform and headed to the train station at 12 o'clock. He listened to a playlist atsumu had made him at an appointment one day.

He leaped off the train after the long journey and walked, hands in pockets, to the club. But he heard a loud shout from behind him. He turned around to see the short ginger boy and former blocker of karasuno. "Omi kun!"

"Don't call me that shrimp."

"Fine. I'll call you shithead instead! It suits you. Anyway i didn't think you were coming today. I thought you'd be looking after atsumu."

"No. Osamu I'd doing that today. And I'm not here for the kids either. I hate them."

"Then why are you here?"

"I'm going to practice. On a different court."

"You're boring! I'm actually going to help."

"I don't remember asking for your opinion."

"I don't remember saying I cared!"

"Tch. Whatever."

They got to the club to see about just over half of the MSBY team and around 20 little kids. Coach was pairing 2 kids per player when the black and ginger haired boys came in. "OI SHOYOOOOO!" Bokuto yelled whilst holding a small girl and a smaller boy's hands in his.

Coach slowly approached sakusa with a large clipboard under his arm. "Ah Kiyoomi. Wasn't expecting to see you here if I'm honest. How's the boyfriend?"

"Fine. I'm not here to help though, sir. I wanted to make up for my absence in a spare gym?"

"Oh... Alright then. Go to court 4. I'm pretty sure it's free."

"Thank you sir."

Cool. Maybe I didn't need to sneak out after all.

Kiyoomi made his way to court 4 and began serving and setting balls to the wall. He did some casual drills before resting on the floor. Sakusa layed in a starfish position and panted heavily

He never even dreamt about getting accepted into such a prestigious team. His career had barely started yet he had come so far already. What if Kiyoomi Sakusa was a name that'd be on the big screens in the future? A role model even?

He snapped out of his thoughts and moved over to the net and began to toss, set and spike over it. But then a younger group of msby players interrupted his perfect practice.

"Excuse me. We've booked this area." said a short boy with blonde hair and piercing blue eyes

"But I was practicing-"

"Leave."

"What?"

"I said leave. You heard me."

"Don't talk down to me. I think we both know i have higher status than you do." Sakusa said, an emotionless look on his face as he grabbed his things and headed to another court.

They were an hour into the kids session and had half an hour to go. He ended up at court 6 and slowly swung open the door. Kiyoomi took a few steps in but stopped when he saw a little boy sitting in the corner, arms crossed and head against the wall.

Sakusa dumped his bag down next to the door and frantically walked over to him. The boy looked about 7 or 8 years old, probably one of the ones who was participating in the event. "You alright?" The older one asked but had no reply.

Kiyoomi took a seat next to him and tapped his fingers on the side of the bench waiting for the boy to answer his question. "No. They all make fun of me out there. Because I'm trash at volleyball."

"Don't say that. I'm sure you're not. You're a kid you still got stuff to learn. How did you get out here anyway?"

"I ran away. I hate being around people."

"I know how you feel. I get that too. Scary isn't it." the boy took his head off the wall and nodded slowly and sweetly. He swept his messy brown hair from his eyes and looked at sakusa. "Who are you anyway? I didn't see you in the first game..."

"Yeah I had some things to take care of so I had to miss it. I'm Kiyoomi Sakusa. What's your name then?"

"Kai... Takiro. I'm a third year at elementary."

"So what actually happened."

"They all say I'm really bad at it. I want to join this team when I'm older and I want to go to nationals and be the best I can be! But they just call me names and say I can't do anything. That I'll never be as good as shugo and the others."

"Yeah well that might not be true. Show me."

"No."

"Oh come on. I could easily back them up just because you didn't show me."

"Are you calling me a coward?"

"Well... Its what you do right now that'll decide for me."

"Fine I will then!"

Kiyoomi rolled his eyes at the boys antics and watched Kai pick up a ball and serve it over the net with barely any technique used.

"Eh."

"Help me then! Kiyoomi pleaseeeee I wanna be like you!"

Kiyoomi usually hated kids. So annoying and whiney. But Kai was different. He was very similar to sakusa and Kiyoomi had a.... Soft spot? So he did chose to help the boy. He picked up a different ball and threw it into the air, slamming it onto the floor, only barely into the lines. A serve with so much power, it had national worthy potential.

Kai's jaw dropped and eyes widened. "T-teach me..."

"Fine." Kai had a huge beam spread across his face as he ran up to sakusa and hugged his legs so so tightly. "Tch whatever... Get off."

He shoved the boy away and placed the ball into the smaller boys hands. Sakusa positioned Kai's arms and held them whilst he hit with all the might he could. "See. That was better."

"I don't suck...?"

"Shut up Kai you know you don't."

"Alright!! But uh what you said earlier, about being scared?"

"Hm?"

"How do you cope?"

"I just think about winning. How good it'll feel at the end. Then I'm not scared and I can work for myself."

"Oh..."

"Let's keep practicing then. We have loads of time left."
