Chapter 3: The Plan for the Boss

(One Month later, in Tolbana on the first floor)

(Martin's POV)

A month has passed in the game. I was sitting on a bench in a park in the town. "No one cleared the floor yet...and about two-thousand players died already. I don't even know where the boss is and I was in the beta test.." I said to myself quietly as I stared down at the grass. My clothing didn't change much. The only difference was that I had a dark red cloak that had a hood which covered most of my face.

Then, I began to overhear a conversation between two players. "Hey, did you hear? Diabel is holding up a meeting about how to defeat the first floor boss. His party managed to find it." The person said to the other. "We should get going to the meeting then! Let's get going!" The other person said as they nodded to each other and began to walk away.

"Thanks for the info.." I muttered under my breath as I slightly smirked. I stood up from the bench and began to follow the two people to the meeting. I'm just gonna take the info, and beat the boss by myself. That is my plan. I'm not interested in fighting with a group, and I never will be.

After following the two to the meeting, I took a seat at the farthest row and away from everyone. I looked around to see who else was attending this meeting. Everyone was unfamiliar to me, but then I saw Kirito. 'What happened to being a solo player?' I thought to myself as I then, looked over to the turquoise-haired man at the center, who whistled loudly to get everyone's attention.

"Alright everybody! Let's get started! My name is Diabel and I'll be running this meeting!" The turquoise-haired man said, gazing throughout the crowd that I was also a part of. "As many of you already know, our party has found the boss room at the top of the tower. So, let's form into groups of six and discuss a plan!" Diabel ordered.

"Groups? No thanks.." I said, staying alone and away from everyone to avoid being asked to join a group. Then, I saw Kirito freaking out about joining a group, but then finally found a person, specifically a female, to form a group with.

"Everyone has their groups? Alright! Now let's fo-" Diabel then, was interrupted by a man. "Hold on a second!!" A man yelled, jumping in from the top of the row to the bottom. He seems to have a tan-color hair that had a sword on his back. "My name is Kibaou and I think some of you people here should apologize! Beta Testers!! Show yourselves so we can take all the stuff you hoarded from the beta!!" He demanded. All I could do was chuckle. There was dead silence until a dark-skinned tall man stood up.

"May I have a word?" The man said, walking in front of Kibaou. "You said that the Beta Testers left the rookies defenseless, taking all the good stuff and that they should give up their goods and provide compensation, am I right?" He said. Kibaou nervously nodded. "My name is Agil." He introduced himself as he took out a small brown guidebook. "This item was sold at the stores for free. This guidebook contains all the information of all the bosses and such. This book was provided by the Beta Testers." Agil said as the other people gasped at shock. "That is all I have to say. I hope we can use the rookies' deaths as a way to help us form a plan to defeat the boss." He further said as he sat back down. Kibaou, defeated, sat back down.

"For an aggressive man, he can't defend himself..." I muttered under my breath. "Hurry up, get on with the boss information." I said a bit impatiently.

"Now, without any further problems, the book says that the boss is Illfang the Kobold Lord. He has 4 health bars and has about 5 or 6 Ruin Kobold Sentinels to assist him. When his last HP bar enters the red, he'll switch his weapon to a Talwar and his entire attack pattern changes." Diabel explained.

I smirked a bit. "That's all I needed to know." I whispered to myself, standing up and leaving the area. "I'm off to solo it.." Now, I began to exit the town and head towards the tower.

As I ran towards the tower, there was only one thought I had: I hope Anisa is still alive.
