(At the top of the tower, right outside the boss room)
(Martin's POV)
I gazed upon the door that lead into the boss room. The normal mobs in the dungeon weren't that hard, but then again, I probably over-leveled for the boss. "Alright...all or nothing..." I said to myself as I opened the massive door slowly as it made a loud creak. I walked into the vast room but couldn't see anything, as it was nearly pitch black and all I could see in the distance was a pair of angry glowing red eyes.
The room lit up like rainbow. It seemed about 20 meters wide and about 100 meters deep. Then, Illfang the Kobold Lord landed right in front of me, having a large bone axe and a leather shield to attack until its last HP bar reaches red. Looking up at it, it seemed over 2 meters tall. "Well aren't you a big fella." I said to Illfang as it replied to me in a loud roar. Lastly, 3 Ruin Kobold Sentinels spawned on the sides. "They said 5 or 6 sentinels spawn...information's a bit off" I said, taking out my longsword and preparing to run at Illfang.
I charged at Illfang. I sliced through one of the Ruin Kobold Sentinels, killing it instantly as I ran by Illfang and slashed the side, being quick enough that Illfang can't keep its focus on me.
I kept repeating my attack pattern until Illfang's last HP bar went into the red zone. It roared loudly and tossed its bone axe and shield away. Then, it took out a Nōdachi. "That's not a Talwar, that's a Nōdachi!" I said to myself as I jumped back, panting lightly as Illfang roared in anger. "Seems like Kayaba wants to change it up a bit from the beta!" I chucked, running towards Illfang as it also charged at me.
Illfang took a quick horizontal swing at me. I off-set the attack with my blade as I swung at him, landing 2 slashes. "You're done!!!" I yelled, doing a final upward slash from the bottom of its body up to its head. Illfang collapsed, then vanished as a giant congratulations sign appeared above me. "Heh...I don't need a group.." I said to myself, sheathing my sword as a notification popped up, saying that I got the last attack bonus. "Coat of Midnight.." I muttered to myself. "I'd rather keep my red cloak.." I sighed, dropping the item and leaving it on the floor.
I made my way towards the spiral staircase. Right before I went up, I heard the entrance to boss room open. Looking back, I saw Diabel and his raid group. Then, they all stared at me in awe. "D-Did you...beat the boss alone?" Diabel asked me. "Yeah...I did.." I replied, looking back up the staircase as I began to walk up. "W-Wait! We could really use someone like you in our raid group!" Diabel shouted. I chuckled, looking over my shoulder to face them. "I'm a one-man army...I don't need a group. In other words, I'm a solo player.." I denied the request, then, I went up the staircase into the 2nd floor. Opening the door to the 2nd floor, I walked through it and smelled the air of the 2nd floor.
I'll beat this game alone.
(A/N): Just for a reminder, I said at the beginning of the story that certain events will be MODIFIED, such as the fight with Illfang, having Martin fight it alone instead of Diabel's group fighting it with Diabel dying. I also apologize if this chapter seemed a bit...vague. Well, I'll see you in the next chapter!!
