The students acted differently to the black fog.
Tenya used his Engine quirk to move the two closest classmates out of the mists reach. The two being, Ochako and Rikidou. Mezo used his dupli arms to shield Hanta and Mina on the ground, leaving the rest of the class to endure the darkness on their own.

Narumi's POV:
'What is this?!' I felt my feet leave the ground, my whole body transporting somewhere else. The force of the darkness shoved against my back, my front, my sides. Everywhere I looked, I would see nothing but pitch black.
Without having any idea of what was happening around me did nothing but cause my anxiety to spike through the roof, making this entire experience all the more horrifying.
And the encounter with the unknown had only just begun...
Before I had any time to think, the black fog had cleared and I could finally see again, only to realize I was warped to a spot above ground, falling from a fairly high distance.
By instinct, I managed to use dark matter to cover my arms and form a hook. At the right moment, I striked the ground and let gravity do the rest, sliding across the surface. Gravel was rolling underneath my claws. Once I finally came to a stop, I slowly stood straight and surveyed my surroundings.
"Looks like we landed in one of the city zones." I mumbled to myself and Havoc.
'Don't let your guard down...We have company.'
'What-'
My thoughts were interrupted by the voice of a villain addressing me. "Well, lookie here, fellas! It seems like we got ourselves a little cutie!"
I peered over my shoulder, discovering a large group of villains approaching me. They gathered around me, males and females, with a diverse set of quirks. What overwhelmed me wasn't by the sight of them alone but by the number of them surrounding me.
'Crap! There's too many of them!'
A few of the thugs laughed as they stared me down. "Nowhere for you to run, little girl!"
"We're gonna tear you to pieces."
"Your teachers ain't here to save you!"
'Looks like we don't have a choice but to take them down.'
'Finally!'
'A hero should overcome the obstacles they're dealt with. This is our moment to prove ourselves worthy of being here.' I opened my eyes, ready to face whatever came my way.
'Here they come.'
My sights zero in on a plain looking guy with a normal build running up to me, who decided to throw a punch. I evaded it with ease and reeled my arm back, forming a black fist and sent him down with a strike to the head.
The force behind my attack caused the concrete foundation below him to crack around his unconscious form. This alarmed his fellow villains from underestimating my strength.
After seeing this, I realized something. 'Wait a sec... These thugs aren't experts at all.'
I heard Havoc cackle in response. 'They're nothing but amateur trash!'
However, even though their strength wasn't an issue to me, the opposing team still had their quanity of members to their advantage.
"Our best bet in getting out of this alive is to find a way to escape." I grumbled.
