"NOT awesome at all!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs I could've swore my larynx was ripping apart. I desperately clung to the person in front of me, holding on for dear life as the thick, suffocating air around us threatened to drag me down.

Hold on—let's pause for a bit hm? Let's start from the beginning to where this all began.

Kalix Aizah—me of course—age seventeen turning eighteen by September. Current status: a senior high school student about to step into the chaos of college in two weeks. Yay!

Not exactly as fun as you think, especially when everything you've been living in was all just a big fat lie. I've dreamt of having a normal fixed childhood but it was shattered—all of it—when I had my sister and father die in an accident.

Since that day I always thought I was the reason they died. That belief only deepened when I discovered I was never just an ordinary human. Golden eyes—cool, right? Not really. They were a constant reminder of the truth I wanted to run from.

So I forced myself to hide his eyes hoping to blend in and avoid attention than I already have, even though my eyes reminded me of who I truly was, but all I wanted to be was normal like others... didn't I?

Sure my brother's eyes are also unordinary but not as unordinary as having pure gold ones. Alright, alright, enough stalling. Let me give you the summary of how I ended up screaming for my life.

The sun continued its slow ascent as my golden eyes flickered open. A cool morning breeze drifted through my window, carrying the wind of another ordinary—well, as ordinary as it gets for me—day. With a soft yawn, I sat up, groaning as I stretched my aching limbs over my head before swinging my legs over the edge of my bed.

I looked briefly over to the digital clock placed atop of my bedside table taking note of the time; 7AM. I reluctantly stood up for the incoming day, and walked slowly over to my window and opening it, letting sunlight brighten my room.

I walked over to my wardrobe and took out my clothes for the day, consisting a white dress-shirt, dark blue sweatshirt, black jeans, and a pair of white socks to go with a pair of black and blue sneakers.

After preparing my clothes for the day, I carefully placed them on my neatly made bed and headed to the bathroom. As I closed the door with a soft click, I caught a glimpse of my slightly disheveled appearance in the mirror, evidence of a restful night's sleep.

I reached for the faucet and let cold water splash over my face, instantly waking myself up. Moving on to the shower, I turned off the faucet and discarded my clothes, tossing them onto the hamper before stepping under the warm cascading water. A contented sigh escaped me as I felt the comforting warmth envelop my body.

Once I finished my shower and wore my clothes on, I quickly picked up my bag from the chair, smoothed down my hair, and made my way downstairs to the kitchen. As I descended down the stairs, I noticed my brother's steel blue eyes looking at me.

"Hey mom, brother," I greeted by the time I reached the bottom step. "Morning,"

"You're up late" My brother—Simon— spoke, as our mother—Lucia—turned to me with her usual carefree smile. As usual her dark cocoa brown hair was in a loose bun, an apron tied around her as she continued with the dishes.

I rolled his eyes making my way over to the dining table, "Someone didn't wake me up" I chuckled, taking a toast ready on a plate before going out the door, but the voice of mother stopped me in my tracks.
