"IS that the only way you'll be at ease is by taking your anger out on demons?"

The question alone caught me off guard, as I involuntarily tensed up. I found myself completely unprepared to handle such a serious accusation. And me tensing up clearly hadn't gone unnoticed by my brother.

"What...?" I asked, smiling bitterly in disbelief. "Yes. Yes, we're hunted that demons are constantly waiting for the right time to jump, but me mad? about what?"

"I don't know, you don't tell me shit remember?" Kalix inquired, folding his arms over his chest. "My guess would be about Dad"

"Dad?" I scoffed in disbelief. "You're bringing Dad up now?"

"Yes, I'm bringing Dad up now because for the past twelve years we haven't." Kalix retorted. "Not a single word"

"Oh just cause I'm trying to protect you means I'm mad" I protested, my tone mocking. "Mad about Dad's death? So what if I am huh?"

"And for the past twelve years you haven't been talking about that? Is that why we never talk about it? So you could—"

"Oh don't you dare, you're happy and free that Dad's death isn't still lingering in the back of your mind." I cut him off. "I'm trying so hard to make it up to him by protecting you and mom, and if it means killing demons mercilessly then I'd be glad to do it"

Kalix was momentarily taken back by my sudden outburst. "Why do you hate demons that much? Do you think I'm that stupid that you think I wouldn't understand?" He said through gritted teeth. "Sometimes we have to let go of things Simon, not let it out on others. And still, that doesn't explain why you're so angry towards demons"

"Because they hunted and killed us for thousands of years, that's why! They all deserve to die, all demons do, the only privilege part demon blooded have is that they don't hunt us" I admitted, frustration in my voice evident.

"Look, yes I'm still pissed about Dad's death, Dad wanted me to protect you and mom, and I will, even if it means wiping all demons," I sighed sharply, "I will tell you once you're ready and when you'll understand"

"There you go again, hiding the truth from me" Kalix scoffed. "Fine, just hide everything from me"

I rolled my eyes, sighing. "You wouldn't—"

"Yeah I know," Kalix cut me off. "I wouldn't understand," He said, mocking in his tone. "All because I'm goddamn stupid of all this sorcery hunting thing"

"You're still young—"

"And stupid, you said it yourself brother," He spat.

"What?!" I retorted in disbelief. "No I didn't—"

"After I realized I was a Mythyrica—which you guys hid from me for years by the way— I thought you guys would tell me everything I needed to know, no more lies, no more secrets." Kalix continued. "But no, I have so much to learn and you guys won't tell me shit! I'm leaving in two fucking weeks, hunted, weak and stupid"

Kalix stopped momentarily before he continued his hands clenched on his sides.

"I thought it was supposed to protect me?! Being a hybrid and lying again and again to the people that care for you is already tiring when you know they're not supposed to know no matter what the cause is, but a Mythyrica!"

"A fucking ancient bloodline, whose hunted?? And my family keeps hiding important shit from me! I just want—need—to know these things Simon"

"It's to protect you!" I finally snapped, "Goddamnit Kal! Can't you understand that simple shit?! If you can't understand that, fine! But the truth hurts more than you think Kal, knowing everything about our family will slowly break you!" I stopped my next words hanging in the air.
