The Alpha and the Omega...

Chapter 2 - Is this... not what we thought it was?

with bens image still lingering in his mind, ray was on his way to maths. he was exceptionally good at maths compared to the others in his class, in fact, probably compared to the rest of the school.
"good morning everyone!" mrs dixon says, tail wagging, as everyone's taking their seat and taking out their books.
"if it were a good morning then girls would stop picking the guys that'll treat them wrongly over me."
he sighs, and takes his seat at the front of the class.
"hey you, nerd." someone taps his shoulder from behind, it was the alpha.
"what do you want ben? i don't associate with morons who doesn't know their times tables off by heart."
"quit the smarty pants crap, omega. i need last nights homework."
(INTERNAL MONOLOGUE)
what a loser. never does his homework. what better things could he possibly have to skip his homework?! doesn't everyone find homework a great time passing activity that keeps the brain working at a steady pace?
but wait, he never cares about homework... why is he scared of trouble today?
(END OF INTERNAL MONOLOGUE)
"you're not the type to actually want to submit your work on time... what's up with you today?"
ben roles his eyes in annoyance. although inside, he thought it was kinda cute how the omega remembered his bad school rep...
"i DONT care. mrs dixon says if i don't hand in my homework on time once more she'll call my dad."
"what's so bad about her calling your dad?" ray asks.
suddenly, ben gets really awkward, the horrible traumatic memories of his parents doggy styling the family cat on top of their sons detention slip come flooding back to him. tears begin to flood his eyes.
   "f-forget it.." he says.
   "i shouldn't of mentioned my dad..."
   ray sees that bens mood has changed, and respects his request.
   "oh... it's okay, if you wanna talk about it i'm always here for you."
   ben looks up at him, their eyes met and for a split second, both of them could swear that time stopped... and it was just them.
   still looking up at him, ben goes;
   "thank you ray... y-you know, you're a really n-nice guy..."
   "i know." ray says, almost shamefully.
   "but at what cost? we always finish last."
