The wind increased around us, whipping my hair across my face and cutting my vision. It grew louder and louder. I looked into Eli’s eyes and saw my own sadness, confusion and anger reflected in his eyes. The wind roared louder and debris began to build a wall between us.

“No!” I cried, reaching out to grab his arm. He grabbed me around the waist and pulled me closer to him.

“I won’t let you go,” He said into my hair as he clutched me tight. The wind swirled harder and a low whine began to thrum in my ears. I felt myself being pulled away from him as the wind lifted me off my feet.

“Eli!” My tears were falling freely now and getting whipped away as soon as they landed on my face. It was as if some invisible force was pulling me into the sky, away from Eli.

“Ellie I’m sorry! I’m sorry for everything! Don’t go!” He screamed as he desperately tried to hold onto my hand. I clutched his hand tight but now I was a kite, grounded only by the one I thought I loved. I wasn’t ready to let go yet. Was I?

My feet began to drift upwards until I was upside-down and I could feel the strain on my shoulder. The whine grew louder and the wind grew deafening. Golden leaves and grass blew around us in a tornado.

“Ellie no! Don’t go!” he tried to tighten his grasp on my hand but I felt myself slipping away. We were both crying, unable to understand the situation that fate had dumped us into. And now it was pulling me away.

“Eli!” I screamed as his grasp slipped an inch. “Please! You have to let me go!”

“No! This can’t happen to me again! I love you!”

“Eli, please. You have to let me go.” I yelled with as confident voice as I could manage. He shook his head and I saw his face harden with reserve. He replanted his footing and tried to pull me to the ground. “Eli, I’ll see you in the future! Meet me on the beach where we met.” I yelled. “I’ll finally let you finish your story.” I finished with a sad smile. He shook the tears from his eyes and tightened his grip on my hand.

“NO! Ellie don’t do this!” He screamed desperately. I shut out his pleas and let myself accept my fate. I exhaled slowly and closed my eyes. And I let go.
