Chapter 4

Phoenix Pov

"Did she just barf what I think she did?" The nuisance of a boy Jacob said. I felt empty again. I picked up a volcanic rock left from the crack and shoved into my mouth, it at oce melted like butter and I swallowed. It usually grew hard when I slept, otherwise it would be like lava in my stomach. It made me feel like a whole being. The dude kicked the next rock out of my hand.

"Hey what was that for?!" I yelled at him.

"People don't eat rocks!" He screeched back at me. I made my hand imitate his talking while repeating what he said. I picked up the rock again and shoved it in my mouth, when it melted I opened it to show the glowing rock, I swallowed before it cooled, it slide down my throat as smooth as water.The boy gawked at me, and the girl kept glaring daggers at me. I glared right back returning her dirty looks.

"I hope you've enjoyed yourself, but you must come with us. It's the only sure way of survival for you." The girl spoke, I stared at my flare scorched pants.

"And why should I?" I asked quietly, my voice was hoarse. They stared at me as if I knew the answer. But I didn't, I just knew what happened to me in the past and what I was able to do.

"Because we're like you." She said, I nodded. I stood up and brushed the leaves off of me, the dirt was always there though so I didn't bother trying to brush that away when it would just come back. I walked up to them and looked them in the eyes.

"Fine, I'll join you. It's not  like I have much of a choice any way." I said gesturing to the clearing. Jacob nodded and we followed him to a time portal which took us forward. I became dazzled by what would happen to my temporary home.
