Chapter 1

Prevoiuisly.......

"W-who are you?" I asked.

"Jacob, Jacob Portman. Now, who are you by chance?"

Now...

"Phoenix." I saw that he still was fingering the trigger, I slowly tried to back away. But being me, I was too quick. He noticed my sudden movement.

"What are you doing, Phoenix?" He questioned me, stopping the small talk short.

"N-nothing..." I stuttered eyeing the trigger.

"Your backing up. Is that nothing?" He asked me briskly, he studied me as I tried to stop, but like my oddity, it wasn't happening.

"Yes.... I could be looking for my contact lens or something, now please put the gun down..." He jump and turned the gun away.

"Sorry, I'm not used to seeing girls out this far, and helping them." He said with venom in his voice. I raised a eyebrow questioning his choice of tone.

"Well get used to nice runners who help lost people. 'Cause there is a ton of them here." I said in a steady voice. I felt the heat underneath the ground, it was moving very swiftly, I started willing it to the surface. My heart began to pound, and I felt sweat form on my neck.

"You alright? You look like you're burning up!" He started to make his way towards me. I smirked. The heat was right there, I saw a glow right behind him, the earth was giving me my heat.

"You should have never talked to me that way Portman. Goodbye." I waved to him, he turned to look behind him. The lava was glowing golden.

"What the...." He didn't get to finish as I willed the lava to create a wall between us. I quickly got up and ran to my small camp, I gathered my not-yet-unpacked supplies and ran back to the wall of heat and jump into the earth, I relaxed as the heat consumed me.
