My heart started beating faster as I was not one bit aware about what was going on around me. The sounds of footsteps kept getting further and further away and soon the only the thing I heard from the room was the sound of my racing heart. I tried to calm myself by taking deep breathes which did not seem to work at all.
As I stayed on the metal bed of the room which had no other source of light except for the the sunlight from windows, I tried thinking of a way ro get out of all this. However, for all that I first needed an answer for why all this is happening. Who is this strange person?
I was too lost in my thoughts that I didn't even realise when I fell asleep. I was peacefully sleeping until the sound of owl hoots woke me up. I don't know for how long I was sleeping. All I knew was that I slept for really long. The beautiful light of sun was replaced by moonlight now.
However, one thing that caught my attention was that all the chains that were once attached to me was now gone and I was not paralysed anymore. I quickly stood up and got on my feet and ran towards the door. To my surprise, it was not locked either.
What the heck? That was the only thing that came to my mind. All this seemed too easy.
Was it just what I thought because of all the movies I watched or was escaping always this easy?
I knew that I did not have the choice to stand here and waste time right now so I walked out of the room making sure to not make much noise. I walked a round the abandoned house trying to find a way out.
After what felt like hours of walking I finally found one door which was far away from all the hallways with thousands of doors. I walked towards the door and touched the lock praying for it to not be locked.
It was surely a lucky day for me. Without any struggles the door opened and soon I was standing in the road that I walked to that one morning without realising.
I inhaled the fresh air trying to process everything that happened just now. Was this real? Did i really escape? This was too easy. My mind did not want to believe that this is real. Slowly, I started walking towards the direction where I felt like my home was.
Before I even knew it, I was standing in front of the place I was longing to be in. The place I call home. I wasted no time in walking into the building and ran up the stairs. As soon as I reached my apartment I slammed the door open and the first place I headed to was Eric and Jessi's room.
A smiled filled with joy made its way up to my face at the sight of Eric and Jessi sleeping with Lila laying beside them. Lila is my 18 years old cousin who used to stay in Malaysia for her studies.
I closed the door trying not to make any sound and walked over to my room. Then I went to towards my wardrobe and picked out a set of pyjamas. After that I went to the washroom to clean up and treat my wounds.
It's took so long to get off all the dust and dirt that was in my body and the reek of alcohol was hard to get rid of. By the time i went to sleep it was already 3AM.
~~~
I woke up to the sound of that. It sounded like two people quarrelling downstairs about something.
"Sky?!" One person yelled.
"Do you know what you are even talking about Lila?! Can you even hear yourself right now for Godsake?! " Another voice was heard. The next thing I heard was people walking towards my room.
I quickly closed my eyes pretending to be sleeping. Soon I heard the sound of door opening and it was followed by the sound of a surprised gasp.
Just for how long was I really gone?
I heard them walking out of my room and decided to get up and head downstairs. As I can see there were 3 elders and 2 kids sitting in the couch. Jessi was the first one to notice me and she ran over and hugged me tight and Eric joined afterwards.
The three elders stared at me as if they were seeing a ghost.
