Confessions

Today was the day that you would confess to him. You were standing behind the gym, you had asked Tendō to meet you there before practice started.

You stood there with your heart just about beating out of your chest. Wiping your palms against your jeans you saw Tendō walk around the corner and slightly jog to get to you.

"Hey kid! What's up?!"

You gulped "I uhm..well.."

He tilted his head at you. Thankfully he waited patiently for you to finish your sentence.

You looked down at your feet "uh well...did- do you....like anyone?" 

His face contorted into a look of surprise "Oh! Actually I do have my eyes on someone"

You looked up "Really?" 

He smiled at you "Yea! Actually....you know her really well!"

"I-I do?"

"Speaking of, I actually had something to ask you..is that alright?"

He stepped a bit closer to you. You nodded as you held your breath, hoping he might feel the same way as you. He stared into your eyes as you stared back.

Maybe, just maybe, the two of you could be together in this life.

"I really like you Y/n"

You let out a heavy breath as you heard those words.

"I really like your friend Y/n"

"..what?"

He rubbed his neck "I know it's pathetic. I couldn't even tell her myself. I was just wondering if you could maybe, I don't know put in a good word for me?"

You smiled up at him. "Of course!"

"Thank you! Thank you so much! You're amazing Y/n! Any guy'd be lucky to have you!"

He hugged you tightly as you laughed

"Oh! I gotta go now practice is starting. Thank you again Y/n I'll see you later!"

Watching him turn the corner your smile stayed on your face.

Your eyes no longer bright.

Tears spilled out of your eyes, the smile never leaving your face. 

You crumbled onto the floor. Your legs too shaky to keep you standing. Of course it wasn't you. Why would it be you when she was there. Why would it ever be you, you were just his best friends sister. Nothing more, nothing less.

Why would you be so stupid, so naive to think that you could get a happy ending?
