There was nothing, and then there was the black leather couch.

Around it, formed a planet of glass and light, and with it, the universe. Everything began moving towards the planet of glass, with the sole purpose of crushing it into mere dust.

Upon the black leather couch, appeared a man in a deep purple suit, he paused, slipping out a shining golden watch from beneath his patterned cuff. It was a peculiar watch, one without hands, instead with hundreds of tiny multicolored circles moving ever so slowly from the edge towards the minuscule diamond in the middle. Around the diamond were fifteen golden rings.

The man watched carefully as one of the tiny circles collided with the first golden ring and disappeared in a tiny burst of light.

He slipped the watch back underneath his sleeve, and he stood, rolling his shoulders back. He sighed softly and walked across the glass bridge towards a small wooden table, upon it, a leather-bound book, and a single ballpoint pen.

The man picked up the book and the quill and strode so close to the window that his breath was causing the glass to cloud up. Before him was an infinite universe of pearly white balls, each nearly blinding him. he reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a pair of black aviators. He put them on, feeling relieved from the constant light.

He opened the leather book, its pages completely blank. he spun the quill between his fingers, and he began to write as if in a trance.

He did not know who he was, he did not know where he was, all he knew was his purpose, the one thing people spend their lifetimes attempting to find.

As he gazed out at the universe, his grand purpose became clearer and clearer.

He would become the Guardian.
