BACKSTORY
*******************

This story is a mash-up of Minecraft and Rimworld related stories, though you may not immediately recognize it as such. I try to make it a bit more realistic, while still keeping some core elements of both games.

The source for the story-idea is my time as a staffmember/co-owner of the Minecraft SMP (Survival Multi Player) Server play.eveninghills.com.

When we reset our 1.16.5 world and migrated to 1.17, it was pure magic to see the player's stories develop on this pristine new world. As a server we have our background, and it is a bit dark, and so the seed of these books was planted.

Minecraft in itself was a bit too bland for me, and the developing stories lent themselves perfectly for some Rimworld drama/cruelty/intensity.

STORY SPECS
**************

My target audience is young adults. I try to keep the language fairly clean, with only very mild swearing in some parts. It's quite family-friendly, according to US-standards for family-friendly-ness, with only moderate amounts of blood, gore and violence. Still, your definition maybe different from mine, and I tend to write descriptively.  It's absolutely SFW (safe for work).

The text is incredibly raw and will be missing words, missing letters, have major spelling errors, and be riddled with grammatical foobars. Also, as you may have noticed, English isn't my first or main language, so because of the lack of editing, that may show.

STORY PLAN AND SCHEDULE
*****************************

This is a NaNoWriMo 2021 project, but because I'm participating as a rebel (again), I'm not adhering to the strict > 50K words. Reaching 50K has proven too easy for me, as the last 10 years of participation prove. I'm up for a more taxing goal: finishing a short story.

I can hear the people who know me gasp in horror at the sheer impossibility of this. It will be a stretch for me, don't I know that. I, who tend to write long-winded epic (urban/supernatural) fantasy, will try my hand on a much shorter work... again.  Once, I succeeded, with Food Critic. The other time, with the more ambitious Reset, I failed. So what will it be this time? Follow this story if you want to find out.

So, what's the plan?

This volume will consist of 3 short stories. I'll try to publish a chapter a week, though I have diverged from that schedule for this first week.  My goal is to finish at least the first short story during November (done). I hope to finish the second one before the end of the year, but that depends on how much time I have available then, with the Minecraft 1.18 release and me being co-owner of a large Minecraft server.

I plan to have finished all three stories by the end of March 2022. Whether or not there will be more stories in this volume, depends on your stars/votes and comments, so do let me know your thoughts.

UPDATE JUNE 2022
*****************************

As you can see the story still isn't finished. I stopped writing it in December because of personal reason (family stuff), but I plan to continue once things are more settled again.

Happy reading!
