Day 5: Sea creatures

Twilight was a spy, he was ready for anything, a mission to stop a nuke? Sure. A mission to investigate the enemy? Of course. He was even ready to die any time. He was truly ready for anything. A mission to investigate Donovan Desmond, By having a fake family to get close? A tad strange but alright.

But this, this was something he was not ready for. Not even in a million lifetimes. A siren. As in, a mermaid sort of siren.

He was just finishing his last mission, and trying to find new home for his fake family when he saw a siren. He blinked. Was this real? Is he perhaps hallucinating?

It was real. Said siren was real. He walked up to it, no, it was not a figment of his imagination. The siren tilted its head to the side, confused. Then its eyes widened and it swam away. Did it realize it wasn't supposed to be here? Twilight walked away, that was strange. Probably just a simple hallucination, lets pretend he never saw that.

He found the perfect home and adopted a daughter,She even passed the entrance exam. All they have now was to wait for the results.

While Loid and Anya were at the boutique, getting Anya's measurements, Loid realized a woman had sneaked past him without him realizing. He turned to her, she seemed Familiar. She was on the list Frankie gave him, but it felt like he's met her before. Somewhere. She seemed familiar. But he doesn't remember why. 

He introduced himself and not long after, they made a deal! She'll play the role of his wife for the interview, and He'll play the role of her boyfriend for the party. As simple as that!

Never mind. Now, he's legally married to her. Well, at least it'll be easier to keep up appearances right? But there was something... off about her.  She would drink a LOT of water throughout the day, she could drink a whole gallon in a day! there was no way she hasn't suffered water poisoning by now! And it wasn't just that,  He swore He saw gills on her! Was he going insane?

He even asked Frankie, who just laughed, saying that He's "just hallucinating and must be tired from overworking"

So he asked Handler if he could have a day off, who agreed that he should rest after seeing his eyebags ("Sheesh, Yeah you definitely need a break. You could take a day off today and tomorrow, You really should rest.")

So he went home, the hospital he worked at (just to keep up appearances) didn't need him in today, since he finished his work early.

Right before he opened the door, he heard a cup fall,followed by a loud thump. Was it Yor? She should be home right now, and Anya was still at school, And it definitely wasn't Bond, Today was "bring your pet to school " day at Eden academy so Bond was with Anya . He quickly opened the door to see...

... Is that Yor?

Loid closed the door behind him , walked closer to the being, It was a Siren. His wife is a siren. The same siren he saw a while ago. He placed his bag on the coffee table and picked her up. Luckily she still had her sweater covering the top of her body. He heard her mumble something along the lines of "water.. please". He opened the door to the bathroom and placed her in the bath tub. He turned the water tap on, "We'll talk after this, alright? " He closed the door.

He went to clean up the slight mess she made, there was tea spilt everywhere on the floor , along with shards of the tea cup she dropped. You might think that he's being a bit too calm after finding out that his (fake) wife was a siren.

He was not as calm as you might think. So that time he saw a siren was real? and not just a tired hallucination? He thought he had seen everything the world had to offer. Nuclear bombs, War, but this was something he's never seen before. A siren. He thought that they were only a myth! What's next? Bond predicts the future? Anya can read minds?

( Unbeknownst to the man, Somewhere in Eden Academy, Anya felt guilty even though she was just eating lunch with Becky. And Bond felt a shock go down his spine)

He finished cleaning up and saw that Yor was finished and was back to normal. She looked a bit pale. Loid sighed, taking a brand new pair of cups and started making some tea. Hopefully this would calm the two down.

He placed the Tea cups and teapot down on the coffee table. "You don't have to explain if you don't want to-"

"No, as your wife, I shouldn't lie to you. But before I explain anything, why are you home right now? Don't you have work today? " She asked, taking her cup of tea.

"I finished work early, and I was allowed home. " He slightly shrugged.

Yor nodded, taking a sip from her cup.

"Where should I begin? I suggest you give me questions instead. I've never had to explain before so I'm not sure where to start. " She sighed a bit.

"Alright. Let's start with this. Why didn't you tell me? I'm not angry. Just confused."

"Well, most people run away after finding out. They're scared I might kill them. " She frowned.

"I would never run. " He assures her.  She blushes a bit, taking a sip from her tea cup.

That sentence sounded differently in his head.

"How about you tell me some things I didn't know about you or anything about Sirens? I'm interested in learning more things. "

She nodded and told him practically everything she knew, from her brother being a siren too, to the fact that sirens only mate once and usually lure people by their voice and kill them. They don't talk with humans much. It was interesting to know. He was writing all of it down in his mind. Just in case.

"Now that you know everything,Are you going to leave me? " She asks. If he said no, she must kill him. She can't risk him telling anyone else. Sirens are secrets that no one should know of. If people knew Sirens exist, then there would be war. She didn't want that.

"No. I will stay. You told me your secrets, and I will tell you mine. I trust that you'll keep them? " She nodded.

He told her (almost) everything. How he adopted Anya, that there was no real Mrs. Forger. He of course didn't tell her that he was a spy. That is something he will not reveal. Nor will he tell her about operation Strix.

"Oh wow. Thank you for telling me all of this, and no worries, my lips are sealed. " She gave a small smile at him.

"Thank you. I will keep your secrets too. I promise. " And just as he said that, the front door opened, revealing Anya and Bond, back from school.

"Welcome home Anya, How was "bring your pet to school" Day? " Yor greeted the girl.

"It was amazing! How was your day mama? "

She took a glance at Loid," It was alright. Your father and I had a wonderful conversation."

"And what about you Papa? You're home early today. "

"I got day off for today and tomorrow, they didn't need me in today. " He shrugged lightly.

"Can we go to the park later? I wanna show you what I taught Bond at school! "

"Of course dear." Yor smiled.

Bonus:
"You'd never kill me right? " He asked. Just curious.

"Of course not! Unless you betray my trust. " She gave a smile that gave off a slight threatening aura.

"..okay..."

Note to self; never betray Yor.

Another bonus:
Anya knew something was up with her parents, she wasn't blind. Plus, she was an esper, she could read minds! She knows her Mama is a siren. It was really obvious, even without the mind reading! How did Papa not figure it out t'ill now!?
