"What were you going to say before your phone rang?" Brent asked ask he started the engine.

"It doesn't matter," she waved it off, "Let's get back before Harper sends a search party." Biting at her thumbnail nervously, she sighed, she almost told him. What if she had confessed her feelings and it made everything awkward between them?

Chuckling at her comment, he put the truck in drive and drove off knowing she was right.

The first few miles were quiet, Luna leaned forward and turned the radio up. It was an old song, a song that always made her think of him when she heard it. Glancing over at him, he was staring out at the empty road, she started singing the lyrics quietly to herself at first.

"Louder, you have a beautiful voice. I love hearing you sing." Brent smiled.

Smiling back at him, she raised her voice as the song continued. Nearing the end of the song, Luna stopped abruptly when the truck suddenly pulled off to the side of the road and stopped. Looking at Brent in confusion while he put the truck in park, he unbuckled, turned and scooted over to her. She watched it happen with wide eyes, him moving towards her, him leaning into her space, his hands cupping the sides of her face, his eyes staring deep into hers and then to her lips.

Her breath was caught in her throat. Holding it in fear of breathing and realizing this wasn't real, she stilled her every movement. Looking into his eyes, willing him to kiss her, her heart beating so fast she was sure he could hear it — and then it happened. He closed the gap between them by pressing his lips to hers.

Luna gasped at the sudden intrusion. It felt like it was in slow motion, but it all happened so fast that her brain hadn't caught up yet. When he pulled away, they stared into each other's eyes. He began to speak, but Luna stopped him by unbuckling and lunging forward, wrapping her arms around his neck, and pulling him in for a deeper, more passionate kiss.

One of his hands slid between her back and the seat and pulled her closer to him, the other stayed at the side of her face as she ran her fingers through his hair. Luna's heart was racing, she was out of breath and needed to pull away for air, but she didn't want to.

The air between them seemed to spark with electricity. Every kiss rolled into another, never breaking contact, but not overpowering the other either. Her heart was thumping and her mind was racing. Was this really happening? She had wanted this for so many years. She never wanted this to end in fear that she'd open her eyes and it'd be just a dream.

Brent was the one to pull away. Luna gasped for air as he leaned his forehead against hers, "I didn't just screw everything up, did I?" he asked with his eyes closed. He worried his actions ruined their friendship. He didn't even ask her permission first; he just attacked her lips like a crazed lunatic.

"Are you kidding me?" Luna was shocked that he would think that after a kiss as passionate as that one. She had never shared a kiss that passion filled with anyone before.

"Lunabelle, please talk to me."

She repositioned herself so she could face him, "Why did you start calling me that?"

"What? Lunabelle?"

Nodding, "Yes."

He swallowed and sat back, facing forward, "That's an entire can of worms that I don't know if I want to open until I know that I didn't just screw everything up. I can't lose you again, Lunabelle."

"Lose me?" She reached for him, forcing him to look at her, "Brent, you never lost me. Never. I tried so hard to keep in contact. What Jesse did wasn't your fault or my fault. I understand why you never answered now, but you never lost me." Her forehead against his as she cupped the sides of his face, she looked into his eyes.

Brent took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Raising his hands to cup her wrists, he began to confess what he'd been holding in for so many years.

"I can't hold it in anymore. It hurts too much to have you right here, right in my grasp, and not really have you." Opening his eyes slowly, he was met with her staring into his eyes intently.

"What do you mean?" Luna hoped he meant exactly what she was feeling. It had to be that, especially after that kiss, right?

He didn't say anything, he sat quietly. Luna wasn't passing this by, she wasn't letting this chance pass by her once more.

"Brent," she leaned back so the two could look at one another properly, "You could never screw anything up with me, but before I say anything else I have to know that you are sure about how you feel."

That is what was going on, right? He was confessing his feelings for her, right?

He looked into her eyes while she talked, he'd never seen such beauty anywhere else.

"Brent, I need to know you won't change your mind later, because this," she motioned at the space between the two of them, "This is something I have wanted since before we gave each other our innocence. I've been in love... I've loved you for so long..." She watched for any signs of rejections, any sign that he wasn't feeling the same way she was feeling. When she didn't find any, she leaned over and kissed him again.

He pulled her onto his lap, his fingers kneading her hips. She slid her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. When his tongue brushed against hers a small moan escaped her throat causing him to grip her hips tightly and push her back until he could just rest his forehead against hers once more.

"We should stop, otherwise Harper's search party will find us indisposed."

Luna smacked him in the chest with a laugh and climbed back to her seat.

"Does this mean I'm going back home as your boyfriend?"

Luna couldn't help how cheesy everything seemed right now, but the smile showed no regrets, "Is that what you want? I mean, what does it say about me that I was able to move on from being engaged just a few days later?" Her eyebrow was arched as she thought about the past few hours, "I'm a horrible person."

"No. You were engaged to a horrible person who showed you anything but love. Someone who wanted to mold you into what he wanted you to be. You deserve to be you, to be happy, to have someone who wants to be with you because of who you are, not what they can turn you in to. You deserve someone who loves you."

"And you're that someone?" Luna grinned.

He lunged towards her again causing her to yelp and leap against the door. Crawling across the seat to get to her, she laughed as she fought him off of her. She lost the battle when he grabbed her legs and pulled her to him. He hovered over her lips, close enough to brush against hers as he spoke, "I want an us. I want you. I want you to be mine and I want to be yours." He breathed against her lips. "I don't care that you just came out of an engagement. I don't care what anyone else thinks. I've never wanted anything as bad as I've always wanted you."

Heat pooled in her chest as her breathe hitched, she whined when she leaned forward to kiss him and he pulled away.

"Can I call you mine?"

"Only if I can call you mine." She grinned.

Finally, he leaned in and kissed her once more before they drove back into town.
