[____] hummed a tune as he kicked some snow in the air, walking to his favourite part on his sentry route.

Yesterday, the old woman'd been pretty cryptic, alright.

But today was a new day!

A new...

Nah, he knew that wasn't true.

[____] scoffed, readying himself for the mystery approacher to... well, approach.

"what's it this time, kid..?"

He looked at the fallen branch in front of him.

Time to snap some twigs.

*

[____]'s head rang. There was a sort of dull ache across the top right of his chest, in a line stretching all the way down onto the bottom left, just missing his legs.

He'd told his bro, but his brother couldn't do much about it, and now too lazy to do it himself, gave up, as usual.

But as he sat at his post near the lake, he couldn't help but wonder...

Why did he have the feeling that something was about to go horribly wrong..?

Ever since the kid fell down, they'd been acting off. They had completely scrapped their moral views on peace and now acted with a more twisted demeanor, shambling around, as his brother put it.

Nevermind.

The kid's here.

Time to say his lines.

*

Everything went well, actually.

They were on the surface.

He really shouldn't have doubted them.

The kid walked over to him. He was happily reading a joke book, looking for more material.

"Hey, [____], can I ask you a question?"

"mhm?" He placed the book down onto his lap, smiling up at her.

"Do you mind following me? I... uh..."

There it was again. The ache. The fizz. The bad, bad feelings. [____] stifled a cry, forcing out a response to cover his apparent pain.

"sure, k-kiddo. where to?" He clutched his head, pretending to be just rubbing it.

The kid didn't notice. And if they had, they'd hid it well. They just fiddled with their fingers for a bit. "Umm..."

They sighed. "I just wanna talk in private, is all. Me, and you. On our own."

"then here is fine." He said, slightly more aggressively than he wanted to. He wasn't getting up this time, that's for sure.

...Good doggo, his chest hurt.

The kid sighed, stuffing their hands into their pockets.

"Fine. I'll do it here. I mean, it was supposed to be a surprise, buuut..."

They suddenly yanked [____] out of his chair and pushed him aside, pulling out a knife.
