Kuroo laid in bed with his arms resting behind his head. His dark orbs stared blankly at the canopy, taking in its gritty texture. A sigh escaped past his lips edged in a frown. One person plagued his mind, living rent-free in his thoughts; Yumi Katana. Never would he have presumed that something as simple as a childhood crush could blossom into love. But he couldn't control his feelings for her. Her witty jokes and open-mindedness, her bubbly personality and artistic flair, how could he not fall for her?
Undoubtedly Yumi was always there for him in his times of need. The type of person whose smile can light up the room even in its darkest hour. And that's only one of the many things he grew to love about her growing up. He could sit for hours on end listening to her book rants, understand her theories and assertions on various media. But what had him in a chokehold was the way her eyes illuminate when pursuing her passion and the care she harbored for others. Yumi's soul was as pure as gold and one of the kindest out there. A true gem, and he was fortunate to bear her friendship.
But their camaraderie was the crisis at hand.
If there's one thing Kuroo feared most, it's rejection; possibly resulting in a shattered friendship built throughout the years, which is the last thing Kuroo wanted.
He's tried leaving cues and hints of his emotions towards Yumi, but she was as dense as a doorknob. And no matter how many times he's pushed to rid these feelings and bury them deep in a hole meant to never see the light of day; failure every time. Each year his feelings sprouted like cherry blossoms in April.
As extensively does denial scare, he swore on his bed that night his resolve. This would be the year he confessed to Yumi. He was a third-year after all and would be off to college soon. It'd be ideal to convey his sentiments now with this year being his very last chance. He wouldn't be seeing Yumi for a while after graduating, it was now or never.
He just had to figure out the right time to execute his plan, which still needed to be formed.

"Breakfast is ready, Munchkin." Yumi's Pa called from the kitchen.
Yumi stood from her desk, crumpling the piece of paper she was writing on momentarily, throwing it in her garbage.
"Coming Oton!!" she answered, flattening her uniform as she made her way out of her bedroom. Yumi slid down the railing and made her way into the kitchen with a skip in her step. Kazuo Seki stood at the counter, placing breakfast onto three plates, while his husband Ryo Seki sat at the table, sipping a cup of coffee while flipping through the newspaper.
Ryo closed the paper upon noticing Yumi's arrival, his eyes crinkling along with a bright smile.
"Good morning Hime. Did you sleep well?"
Yumi sat down at the table next to him.
"Morning Chichi. I slept great, thanks."
Kazuo carried the plates of food to the table, taking a seat beside his husband.
"I hope you're a hungry munchkin because breakfast is served!!"
Yumi clasped her hands together,
