"My friend, why don't you and I speak privately in my office?" Marco told Kol, who was standing in front of him in less than a second.

"Anything you say to me, you can say to her as well." Kol said to the man, who looked over at me.

"Tua moglie?"(Your wife?) He asked questioningly in my direction.

"Sí."(Yes) I was beyond confused and I would have to ask Kol what they were talking about later. He waved us both with him into the office. When the door was closed, Marco dismissed the two guys standing guard.

"So, what brings you back to Rome?" Marco asked Kol while we sat down.

"Can't a man come see how his city is from time to time?" Kol joked, laughing. "Elena and I wanted to get away for a while. I trust my home is still in good condition?"

"It is. Now, what is this business about you being rumored dead? We had hundreds die mysteriously within minutes of each other, including Demitri." Marco asked. I looked away, but Kol grabbed my hand.

"I did die, along with my entire bloodline, I was on the other side until just a few days ago." Kol responded, squeezing my hand for support.

"If you were dead, then how are you alive before me now?" Marco asked in awe.

"It is quite a long story, but Elena here brought me back." He looked over at me, as if to see if I were a witch. "Now, I trust that all of my affairs are in order and that no one will give us any problems while we are here, correct?" It was strange to hear Kol talking business.

"I will inform them all of your arrival. We have had a few problems with rogue night walkers passing through, but i'm sure they can be taken care of easily. Is there anything else you need?" Marco asked. Kol pulled his phone out of his pocket and handed it to Marco.

"If you or anyone else see's these two here, let me know immediately, but do not, under any circumstances, kill them." Kol told him. I assumed he was showing Marco pictures of Damon and Stefan, but it made me feel better knowing that he gave the order for them to stay alive.

"Very well." He stood up, causing us to stand up as well, and walked to the door.

"Lei deve essere molto speciale per voi a dare il suo cognome" (She must be very special for you to give her your surname) Marco whispered in Kol's ear.

"lei è" (She is) Kol responded, smiling at the man while patting him on the shoulder. I couldn't speak italian, so I had no idea what they were saying. Marco reached in his pocket and threw something to Kol before we walked back to the car.

"What did he give you?" I asked when we got back in the car. He pulled out an old looking skeleton key.

"Our house key." He winked at me. "Vincent, can you drop us off at the garage first? I have something I would like to pick up." He asked the driver. I wondered what he needed to pick up. As we drove to the garage, I looked out the window in awe. Everything was so beautiful. Finally, we reached the garage, which was almost like a storage unit for cars, each in their own locker. "Thank you, mate. See you around." Kol waved him off, and we were left standing in front of storage unit 667.

"One step up from the devil, eh?" I asked him laughing.

"I thought it was pretty fitting at the time. Would you like to see what's inside?" He asked me, smirking. I nodded and he pulled out his set of keys from his pocket, taking the lock off the door, and sliding it up.

My eyes widened and I gasped. I looked over to Kol, who was leaning against the doorway smirking.

"Don't give me that look, darling. How can a 20-year-old man be rich, living in Italy, and not get a Ferrari?" He asked. I couldn't believe he really had a bright red Ferrari.

"First of all, you may look 20, but you are like a thousand-something, and you just had to pick the most conspicuous car in Italy?" I asked him, laughing.

"Ouch, darling, one might think you were calling me old! And I will have you know there are plenty red Ferrari's in Italy. I happen to like my car." He said, walking over to the passenger-side door to open it for me.

"Compared to me, you are old, Kol." I joked, laughing.

He got into the driver's seat and turned the car on. He drove really slowly through the garage, making me have a bit of hope for the rest of the ride, but no such luck. As soon as we pulled out of the garage, he floored it, screeching the tires as we drifted sideways into the main road. He continued to swerve in and out of traffic, going way over the speed-limit.

We reached the outskirts of the city and came to a very curvy road, climbing up the side of a mountain to a large house at the very top. I looked over to him and grabbed the door handle. He was smirking.

"Oh come on, love. You're a vampire, I'm an excellent driver, have some fun." He said before taking off up the winding road, drifting around the corners as we went.

We finally arrived at the top, and I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding. After I recovered, he opened the door of the car and helped me out. I took a moment and looked at the beautiful stone house in front of me. It looked extremely old, perched on the top of a tall hill, overlooking the city.

"Welcome home, Elena." He said, walking up to the door and unlocking it before picking me up and carrying me over the threshold.

"What was that about?" I asked as he sat me down.

"Well, considering I may or may not have told the entire group of vampires back there that you were my wife, I thought the action was justified, darling." I looked at him with my eyebrows raised.

"You told them that I was your wife? I thought that was just the passport?" I asked him, smirking.

"I got a bit angry and it just sort of slipped. Oh well, no taking it back now." He smirked as he picked me back up and vamp sped me to what I assumed was the bedroom before throwing me on the bed.
