After dinner I head to the library in the hopes that Allison will be there waiting for me. I find her leaning against the wall reading one of her textbooks. She looks up from her book and when I reach her, I grab the textbook from her hands and toss it to the side. "Draco, what are you -" but I cut her off by pressing my lips to hers. I kiss her passionately and she kisses me back as I tangle my hands in her hair and press her into the wall.
Eventually, she pulls away from me, pushing me away from her at arm's length. "Draco," she says. "Whitley," I reply. I go to kiss her again, not wanting to talk, but she pushes me away. "What's wrong?" I ask, my brown furrowed in confusion.
"You're seriously asking me that?" she asks. I stare at her blankly and she sighs, moving away from me to sit on the desk. "You haven't written to me or talked to me all summer, Draco. Then, when I see you in Diagon Alley you act all cold and haven't even looked at me since we arrived at Hogwarts. Now, you show up here and expect me to make out with you," she says.
"I don't see what the problem is, Whitley," I say, moving to sit next to her. "God, you're infuriating," Allison replies. "The problem is that there's clearly something going on with you and you won't talk to me about it. You can talk to me, Draco. I've never turned my back on you."
"Look, my father was arrested in June for being at the Department of Mysteries and since then You-Know-Who has been spending a lot of time at my house because of my aunt. Then, when I was in Diagon Alley, we ran into Potter and his friends, you know, Granger and Weasley, and my mother called her filth. When I ran into you, I knew she could turn the corner at any moment and I panicked, okay? I didn't know what she would do and I was just trying to protect you." Allison laughs.
"How many times do I have to tell you that I don't need you to protect me?" she asks. "I know, I know, but I can't help it," I say. "Okay, but why were you in Knockturn Alley?" she presses. "It doesn't matter," I shrug.
"Draco," Allison says. "Whitley, it's fine. You trust me, right?" I ask. "Of course I trust you," Allison answers. "Then, can we just leave it alone for now?" I suggest.
"Sure," she says. I move in to kiss her again, but she pushes my face away. "What, now?" I ask. She picks up the textbook I discarded and places it back in her lap. "I have to study," she answers.
"Seriously?" I say. "I'm not going to become an Auror by doing nothing," she replies with a smile. She turns back to her book, but I flinch at the mention of her becoming an Auror and instinctively rub my left arm. If Allison becomes an Auror, then she'll have to hunt me.

The first week of school passes and so does the second. Each day I get gloomier and gloomier. Hanging around Allison helps, but it's hard having to lie to her and even harder when we get into a fight. I'm only taking five classes this year and each of them I share with Allison, but I'm always sitting with the other Slytherins which gives me no time to talk to her other than our secret meetings.
In the evenings of the next few weeks, usually after meeting up with Allison, I start working on my task for Voldemort. Crabbe and Goyle, as the sons of trusted Death Eaters, are the ones I turn to to help me. I don't tell them what I'm up to, but they don't even bother to ask.
The first night I left Allison to work on the task, I performed a disillusionment charm on myself and tracked down the second Vanishing cabinet. I thought of the idea to use it because the Weasley twins stuffed Montague into it last year. Because the passageway was broken, he was stuck in limbo. If I can fix it...the thought comes to my mind, but I push it away, not wanting to get too excited that this could work.
Once I found the Vanishing Cabinet, I carried it to the hidden entrance of the Room of Requirement. Allison would hate to know that I'm using the information she gave me on the Room of Requirement to carry out a task for Voldemort, but I have no choice. I walk back and forth three times, thinking of needing a place to hide something. The door that I'm familiar with from last year appears, but this time when I enter it's not the same room we used for defensive practice.
