★ELEVEN★

The day was like any other. I woke up surprisingly early for school so I decided to put my pen to paper and write Mike a new letter. I started writing.

This is day 185. I think I feel like I'm starting to fit in. "Lie." I have made so many friends and school is normal for me now. "That's another lie, Friends don't lie.. girlfriends do though." I whispered, making an effort to make myself feel better about things.

I figured it was about time to wake Will up. Wills always sleeping until as late as he possibly can. (That kind of means he waits until Joyce tells him to wake his ass up.) Joyce isn't doing great. Like the rest of us, she misses Hopper and everyone in Hawkins. Will was doing okay you could say. Better than the rest of us.

"Wake up Will!!" I shouted but quietly. He refused to even open his eyes so I opened his curtains. "Ahh! No! Close them I swear mom I'll kill y-" he opened his eyes. "Oh.. sorry El I know your only trying to be nice to me I thought you were my mom." He said apologetically. I shrugged. Will was always like that. He cared about my feelings but he didn't need to care so much. He was like a brother and a very good friend to me.

I waved my goodbyes to Joyce and stepped on the bus. Will went over to sit by one of his friends near the front whilst I had to walk all the way to the back awkwardly trying to find a seat. When I found one I sat down and stared out the window for the rest of the ride.

When I was at school I tried waving at a group of girls but they just laughed and turned their backs on my face. I guess not everybody should feel the need to like school. I got to registration and sat at the table in the back by myself. I wish Will was in registration with me because he would sit next to me. I was paying no attention whatsoever until the teacher mentioned something..

"Class listen up!" Everyone turned their heads to face the front of the class, including me. There was a girl standing next to him. She looked worried like she was holding back tears.
"This is a new member to our school, Jessica Smith. You can sit over here at the front by these girls or at the back by Jane." She looked right at me and walked over to me. Was I making a friend? She sat down next to me and placed her bag on the floor.

"Hey, my name is Jessica but just call me Thir." She smiled. She picked me over those popular girls who everyone else seemed to love.
"My name is Jane but I never use Jane. I go by Eleven or El."  I said.
"Wait, like the number?" She asked.
"Yes, like the number" I let out a laugh causing her to laugh with me.
"My nickname is a number too! Thir is short for Thirteen." She explained to me.
"We have quite a lot in common." I scanned her timetable that was in her hands, looking to see if we shared any classes.
"We share nearly all of our classes together Thir!" I exclaimed
"Really? Wow I'm so happy. I thought I wouldn't stand a day in school but I'm so happy I am sure I already have!" She said with a big smile on her face.
"We don't have next lesson together though." I sighed. "I'll see you later, Bye!" I got out of my chair and took off, waving at Thir.
I just made a friend!
