Kori bent over, one hand on the stitch in her side and the other on the ground stabilizing her.

"Here," Mouth panted, handing her her backpack.

"Thanks." Kori took a deep breath in and deep breath out, her breathing coming less ragged.

"It's really really close!" Mikey said. "I just know it!"

"Let's hurry," Kori said. "I'm sure the Fratellis will catch up."

Mikey nodded and led the way; Kori pulled up the rear as usual.

"Soooo," Mouth said. "Back there when I saved you from falling--"

"Let's not talk about that." Kori hoped she wasn't blushing.

"Admit it: you wanted to kiss me."

"That's a lie."

"You were doing that thing girl's do with their lips when they want someone to kiss them."

"Mouth, please not now. We'll talk about what did or did not happen later."

Mouth huffed. "Fine."

Mikey slipped, the others following suit as they all slid down the cave, kind of like a waterslide. At the end, Kori fell into water, taking a moment to stay under and revel in the silence. Someone grabbed her shoulders. She opened her eyes to see Mouth, who puckered his lips and leaned in. Someone else grabbed her hips from behind and boosted her above the water.

"Thanks, Brand," Kori said, glancing behind her.

"You guys were under there a while," Brand said, suspiciously eying Mouth, who was pouting.

"The ship!" Mikey said, pointing to a ship that would be frankly impossible to miss.

Kori paddled with the others to the ship, where they climbed up a rope ladder and on board. Mikey wandered towards the cabin area, Kori taking careful note of where he went. She almost followed him.

"Yo, Kori!" Mouth called. "Look over here!"

Kori took one glance at the door Mikey went through. She didn't hear any screams, so she walked to the cargo net where Mouth stood.

"I'll race you to the top."

A smile pulled at Kori's lips. "You're so on." She climbed next to Mouth and got ready to race. "Brand, can you count us down?"

Brand crossed his arms. "Kori, get down! That's dangerous! What would Mom say if you fell off?"

"Data?"

"I've got you covered," Data said. "Ready, set, go!"

Kori pulled herself up, moving her feet as quickly as she could. Mouth said something, but Kori didn't catch it, instead focusing on climbing as fast as she possibly could. The cargo net narrowed towards the top; Kori needed to have a good lead before getting there. She glanced down to see Mouth at her ankles. He caught her eye and winked. Kori scoffed, and resumed climbing.

She pulled herself into the crow's nest, panting.

"Yes!" she cheered, leaning against the railing and tipping her head back.

"Good . . . race," Mouth panted, also leaning against the railing.

"Thanks."

The two stood, observing the view of the cave around them. Kori looked toward the side of the cave with large boulders, one stacked on top of the other. She puzzled over the intentional look of them.

"Since you won," Mouth said, turning Kori toward him, "I think it's time for you to get your prize."

Kori clasped her hands in front of her, her voice slipping into a high falsetto. "A prize? What could it be?"

"Something you really want."

Mouth neared her, closing his eyes and pursing his lips.

Kori pushed his forehead back with her pointer finger. "What are you doing?"

"Giving you your prize!"

"Can't you just give me your share of the treasure?"

"No, I can't," Mouth insisted.

"But a prize is supposed to be something you want."

Mouth scowled.

Kori returned to looking around the cave. She took in the scattered skeletons and occasional washed up rowboat. It certainly wasn't a nice picture, but Kori figured a similar picture would be created if she was in One-Eyed Willy's place.

"Do you like me?" Mouth said.

Kori furrowed her brow. "What?"

"I mean as a friend. You've made the whole romance thing plenty obvious."

"Why wouldn't I like you?"

His shoulders slumped. "I'm selfish and pushy and annoying."

"Where's this coming from?"

He shrugged. "It's just . . . we've been on this adventure together, and we've been walking together, but it just doesn't seem like you like being with me. You don't talk a whole lot, and you seem to want space from me, and if you don't want to be friends, I'd want to know now."

"But I like being friends."

Mouth scoffed.

"Really," Kori assured. "You're fun to be around, you tell pretty good jokes, and I enjoy your company. I don't talk a whole lot because I know you'll do that. And I like hearing you talk. I'm trying to keep everyone safe on this trip, even if Brand thinks that's his job, and I just need to stay alert. But I like being friends with you."

She smiled. Mouth returned the smile and slid closer to Kori, who tucked her arm around his shoulders.

"After all, we're the Goonies. And we stick with each other."

Mouth tucked his own arm around her waist. A tingle rushed down Kori's spine at his touch.

"Thank you," Mouth said.

"No problem."

Together, Mouth and Kori looked at the dark water and the peaceful cave.

Kori glanced over the edge, seeing the others walk through a doorway that definitely wasn't there before.

"Come on," Kori said, swinging herself back onto the cargo net. "I think they found the treasure."

-----

Mouth's sneakers hit the deck. He followed Kori through the doorway, his nose taking in the smell of rotting wood and old leather. His nose wrinkled. It was musty, damp, and humid. Mouth observed Kori as she walked forward, scanning from left to right. He supposed it could be more humid.

They stepped into a dining room and Mouth's breath caught in his throat. Laid out on the table, like a lavish feast for people with expensive and strange eating habits, was treasure: gold, silver, jewels of all color. As Mouth walked around the table, the gems sparkled.

"It's . . ."

"Beautiful," Kori finished.

Their hands quickly joined the other's in scooping treasure into their pockets, Kori sweeping piles of gold into her backpack.

"We're rich!" Mouth cheered, leading the others above deck.

"We're rich!" Kori cheered along with him.

"We're rich! We're rich! We're rich!" the two chanted, jumping and circling each other in excitement.

"Oh, are you?" a familiar voice said, sending chills down Mouth's spine.

He turned and gulped. The treasure seemed to get heavier in his pockets.

"No we're not," he weakly told Mrs. Fratelli.
