This has the restaurant scene in it. No extra info. Enjoy!

Kori POV

"That was a gunshot!" Chunk yelled.

"No," said Mikey, "someone probably just dropped a, um, pot. Yeah, a pot."

My nose told me he didn't believe himself.

"Yeah Chunk, just a pot," everyone else said.

We walked up to the restaurant and snuck around the porch to the window. I use the term snuck loosely; the boys were practically Niagara Falls. I kept my steps light. We peeked through the window but couldn't see anything. Chunk then ran into us as we walked through the door. I was pushed in front of Mouth.

"Looks like this place hasn't been open in ten summers," Mouth commented. I was just about to shush him until I heard a voice behind us.

"What are you doing here?" a woman asked.

"W-we just w-wanted f-food, m-ma'am," Chunk stuttered. A man rounded the corner, yelling at another person. He spoke Italian with the woman.

"So, you say you want something to eat? What do you want?!" she snapped.

"Five waters, please," I said boldly.

"Is that it?"

"No," Mouth was doing that thing that he did when he's scared: talks. "I want fettuccine Alfredo and-"

I grabbed him and pushed him behind me while keeping my hand over his mouth.

"Ignore him," I said with a smile, "we all do."

The woman grunted. "Sit down!"

We scrambled for seats. There were only four seats and I was about to pull up another one until I heard an alternative option.

"Hey Kori, we're one chair short, I think fate has brought us together. Come sit on my lap," Mouth said.

"If fate wanted us together it wouldn't have supplied more chairs." I swung the chair around and listened to Chunk's story of the car with the bullet holes. I started chewing my lip.

"Here's five waters," the woman said. We all voiced our thanks. What she set before us was not water.

"That isn't water," I said looking in disgust at the brown liquid. "That's a health violation."

"It's wet, ain't it? It's water. Drink it!" I grabbed my glass and sniffed it. Rust and waste and sewage. Probably toxic.

"If I called the cops you should be shut down in about five minutes. Who knows, I might even be able to sue you for millions."

She grabbed my face, forcing me to stick out my tongue and held a knife by it. "You call the cops, I cut out and serve your tongue. You boys like tongue?"

My eyes were a little wider than usual. I narrowed my eyes a little to seem more ferocious. The boys covered their mouths with their hands. She released me and put her knife away.

"I need to use the bathroom," Mikey said.

"Can't you hold it?" the woman snapped.

"Mikey I don't think you want to go to the bathroom here," Chunk poked in.

"Why not?" the woman said in a gruff voice.

"Oh, um, they might have daddy long legs," Chunk said with a trying grin.

"Hey Mikey," Mouth began. Uh-oh. "You say you need to use the bathroom?" He poured water from my glass to his and back again.

"Please!" Mikey started yelling. Chunk started yelling his protests, Mouth kept swishing the water, and the woman was shouting something about staying to the right. Mikey took off.
