This is a continuation of the last story. Enjoy!
Kori POV
We entered a jungle gym of pipes.
"Hey, Mouth, your dad's a plumber, what kind of pipes are these?" asked Stef. I pulled my arm away from him so he could walk without having to worry about me.
"These are water pipes. Here's gas pipes. These are drainage pipes... Were under some sort of foundation! If we bang on them enough, someone should hear us!"
I was about to voice my concerns for that plan but any noise was soon drowned out by yelling and banging. The pipes started groaning and breaking. Everyone else started running towards the other side of the room. I took off too—ignoring any pain felt by my ankle. Us Goonies quickly huddled together and slid down the tunnel until we landed on flat ground. I began walking on my own with my barely noticeable limp. We had found a few lanterns and carried those as well as my flashlight. Mouth walked up to me.
"Sooooooo..." he drawled.
"So?"
"So, who's your mom?"
"A secret," I said with a sigh.
"Was she a nurse?"
"No."
"A teacher?"
"No."
"A doctor of some sort?"
"No."
"A secret agent?" I smiled fondly at the equally fond memory of us in the woods. Right before she left little three-year-old me. I quickly lost my smile.
"No," I said trying to make sure my voice didn't crack. I took a deep breathe to steady myself. I cannot cry now.
"A treasure hunter?"
"No."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Hmm. An inventor?"
"No."
"A model?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"How sure?"
"Very."
"Really?"
"Yes. Why would you think I'd lie about this?" I said turning to him and looking him in the eyes.
"Because you could be a model."
"Oh," I said with a blush and turned away. "Thanks." What the heck am I doing?!?!?! I never blush!!! What the tarnishing is going on???
We walked in silence for a little bit. Brand found a rock. I didn't like the rock. Brand thought someone was behind the rock. I did not think someone was behind the rock. I didn't like the rock.
