0.2A million thoughts ran through my head as i sat in karlie's car. what if she was a psycho killer or kidnapper? today could be my last day on earth.
"are you okay?" she asked, a concerned look swiped across her face. "i'm not a murderer, i swear."
nope, she's a physic.
my face flushed red, the realization that i must've been staring at her weirdly coming to mind.
"sorry. normally i don't get into random people's cars," i blurted, turning my face to look out the window.
she chuckled," i totally understand."
i nodded quickly, focusing on the music playing through the speakers.
of course, i still had my doubts about this 'karlie.' who doesn't have fears of strangers that offer to give you rides.
"oh shit," she cursed under her breath, her eyes darting between the gas meter and the road.
"what?" i asked, a bit frantic seeing that i had minimal time to pick up my children.
"we're low on gas but we'll just stop at a station real quick and refill. if that's okay with you."
"that's fine. only if i can buy some cupcakes."
she let out the cutest giggle as she pulled into a different lane, making me laugh as well. why did i think he giggle was so cute? i have a husband. this is totally normal. a lot of people have adorable laughs.
i shook the thought out of my head as soon as we pulled into the gas station and stopped at a pump.
"i'll be right back, but you can go get some 'cupcakes'" she mocked, stifling a laugh.
i rolled my eyes, my cheeks turning a crimson red. why the hell was i blushing? this is probably the weirdest day of my life.
i lowered my head and made my way into the 7/11. people around me were dressed in sweats, leaving me all fancy like. i made my way to the back fridges, grabbing a water, for Karlie, and an iced coffee for myself. god knows what she likes, we just met about twenty minutes ago.
that part really hit me; we only met 20 minutes ago and I'm trusting her to drive me home.
shaking my head, i placed my items on the counter, sending a smile to the cashier, "is this all?" he asked.
"oh, damn!" i cursed, holding up a finger as to say 'hold on.'
he only chuckled and watched me run back to the snack aisle to grab those little debby cupcakes from a shelf. karlie had totally distracted me from my original mission. ugh, i need to stop. she was just some stranger who was giving me a ride home. i'd probably never see her again.
"ready now?" the black haired boy that went by the name michael, according to his nametag, that is.
i suck in a deep breath before nodding, "yep."
Michael grinned, telling me the total and putting my stuff into a plastic and typing a few things into the the computer, register thing.
"$7.89," he told me [[;)]], waiting for me to swipe my card in the keypad, separate from the actual register itself.
michael smiled at me widely," have a nice day," he bid me goodbye, handing me my bagged groceries.
i waved slightly, returning the grin before walking out. karlie was sitting the car that was already parked in a slot near the door. I jogged over and slid into the passenger seat.
