Chapter 1

As my dad turned the key and started the engine in the car, I couldn't help but feel more relieved than I have ever felt in my whole life.

For the past summer, I've just had sleepless nights but even now, I couldn't sleep.

I got out my phone and saw that I had an unread message from one of my best friends, Taylor:

What time are you gonna be at your new house? I wanna come round and see you!

I quickly replied back,

Hey Taylor! I've just left town now so I should be home in an hour! See you later!!

I couldn't wait to see my best friends. They've been so supportive throughout this summer and now I'm finally moving closer to them so hopefully I will go to the same school as them.

I turned on my iPod and I felt myself slowly falling asleep into the land of dreams.

"Lexi, wake up. We're here!"

I woke up to the sound of my mum's voice and staggered out of the car. I glanced around at the road - most of the houses were huge. The only bad thing about moving house is unpacking everything. I grabbed a couple of boxes and dropped them on top of each other. Without any trouble, I picked them up and walked up the footpath towards the house. This house was definitely bigger than the house we had before. In front of me, there was a huge door with pots containing random but pretty flowers on either side of the door. There was also a small fountain on the front yard. I already knew that I was going to love this house. I opened the door to be greeted by the soft carpet in the hall. I sprinted up the huge staircase and searched for the biggest room that wasn't already occupied by my parents. I saw that my bed and wardrobes were already in my room - I guess my dad knew well that I was going to pick this room. I dropped my boxes on the floor and quickly brought the rest of my stuff upstairs.

As I lugged the last of my boxes into my now heavily cluttered room, I chose this time to properly look around my room. I was singing along to 'Get down' by twenty twenty which was playing loudly from where I'd set up my iPod and speakers so I wouldn't be bored whilst I sorted out my new room. As I looked around I started to appreciate just how big this room was, we aren't poor but this house would have cost a lot of money! I guess mum and dad HAVE been saving up for a new house like they've been saying for the past few years and now because of what happened with Jamie we had a reason to move. See, after I got assaulted by Jamie at the start of summer I went into a depression and if it wasn't for my three best friends -Taylor, Annie and Marisa- I would still be in that bad state of mind. But they managed to not only pull me out of that terrible depression but they somehow got me into the happiest mindset I've ever been in, in my entire life! I feel so much stronger knowing what I went through was awful but I managed to survive through the abuse and the after depression. I've only got the three people who are more like my sisters than friends to thank! I honestly don't know what I'd do without them! I smile thinking about what they'd say to me if they heard my thoughts. Taylor and Annie would probably laugh and tell me to stop being such a sap even though they secretly love it whilst Marisa would probably burst into tears and make us group hug whilst telling us how much she loves us! Around the middle of summer Jamie got a court sentence and I had a restraining order put on him. Mum and dad also decided that it would be better if we also moved a bit further away to get away from the bad memories. They found this house which is extremely close to where Taylor, Annie and Marisa live so I obviously said yes wanting to be closer to my best friends. So here we are now!
