"Nakamura." My heart nearly stopped. Looking to the side I saw Todoroki, running to the side of me, merely a few feet away.
"Todoroki." I responded.
"You've made it through before anyone else. I hope you've enjoyed 1st place, but I'm afraid I can take it from here." He stated.
"Go ahead." I said. He looked at me, baffled almost. "Excuse me?"
"I don't need 1st place. I just need top 5." Explosions sounded behind us.
"If you thought the first obstacle was easy, let's see how you feel about the second one. The fall!" Don't look down.
Without hesitation, I took of running over the rope. Todoroki used his ice as a bridge.
"Looks like Todoroki is still staking by easy. And not to far from him, Nakamura has run across these ropes without any resistance."
Reaching stable land was a short lived victory when Bakugo's explosions came even closer. We approached the last obstacle quickly.
"And now the last obstacle. Everyone had better tread carefully. You're stepping onto a minefield!"
I carefully stepped onto solid ground. "It's over!" Bakugou yelled as he raced past us.
"Bastard, your declaration of war was to the wrong person!" He shot an explosion at both of us.
Screw this, no time to wait around here anymore. I needed to get past and quickly. I used my blood and ripped through a path in front of me. Blowing up all of the mines that could have put me at a disadvantage.
Bakugo kept throwing attacks and me and Todoroki as we tried to get ahead. "What's this, can our three leaders fight each other off and stay in front of the competition?"
And loud explosion from the back caused us to pause. I saw Midoriya on a piece of the robot debris in the air.
Bakugo stopped attacking and pushed himself forward with his explosions and once against Todoroki used his Ice.
I used my blood as a grappling hook. "Look at that plot twist! Those three aren't fighting anymore! They're chasing Midoriya! That's what having a common enemy will do in this competition! This fight is still far from over, though!"
As Midoriya neared, he slammed down the robot piece and created more explosions. Not in front of me, I had cleared my mines out already. But Bakugou and Todoroki were faltered.
"In a stunning move, Midoriya has blasted past his classmates from 1-a. I don't believe it-- he cleared that minefield in an instant! Eraser Head, your students are amazing! What the heck are you teaching them?" Present Mic called out over the mic.
"This has nothing to do with me. Each of them is powered by their own drive to succeed. " I could hear Mr. Aizawa say. I smiled to myself.
"There ya have it! Eraser Head is a terrible teacher!"
"I'm what!"
"Who would have imagined at the beginning of this race that the climax would be a non-stop mega-mix of surprises? The first to make it back into the stadium is the first place winner. Izuku Midoriya is our champion!" The rest of us seemed to come in at the same time.
Whoever came second or third was something cameras would see.
I panted and leaned against the wall. Non-stop running and fighting could really wear you out.
"The first game for the first years is finally over. And what a game it was. Now, let's take a quick look at the standings, shall we?"
A board was pulled up with the results.

I stopped reading. Man I was tired. "Only the top 42 will advance to the next round. But don't be too let down if you didn't make the cut! We've prepared opportunities for you to shine. Now the real fun is about to begin. The chance to fully move yourselves into the limelight! Give it your best! Let's see what we have in store for you next."
She pointed at the board. "Will your wildest fantasies come to life? What could it be? The waiting is torture. Prepare yourselves... for this."
'Calvary Battle' The screen showed.
"Allow me to explain. The participants will form teams of two-to-four people as they see fit. In theory, it's basically the same as a regular playground game. But there is one difference. Each player has been assigned a point value based on the results from the obstacle course."
So each team will start with a sum of the points from every person on the team. "Maybe you should shut up and let me explain things to you. Now then. The point assignments go up by increments of five, starting from the bottom. For example, 42nd place is worth 5 points and 42st is worth ten. And the point value assigned to the first place contestant is ten million!"
Poor Midoriya, he's a walking target now. "That's right. It's the survival of the fittest, with a chance for those at the bottom to overthrow the top!"
