Summery Melinda Gilbert the old sister of Elena and Jeremy Gilbert. She is different from her siblings because Melinda as the ability to speak to, and see, the souls of the people who have died. She can see, hear and speak to the deceased.
Most people assurme that she is a psychic, to which she replies that psychics can see the future, whereas she can only see the dead. Though she experiences "visions" of the past and of the future, she cannot do so on her own accord. The spirit(s) that she is trying to cross Over give her these visIons so that she may glean information from them in order for her to solve the reason for them being earthbound.
She was about to see her parents last time after they both passed away from a car accident and she promised them that she keeps her family safe from any danger.
After the four months since the accident she helped her aunt taking care of her siblings but what happens when her little sister starts staying a vampire and she gets visions of people on the other side wanting her about the supernatural world coming.
