It was a world that, both for people's lifestyle and their mentality, was very similar to the Middle Ages. Men were the backbone of society, while the role of women was primarily to take care of the house and children.

Yuto could not deny that discovering that the Chief of the Druids was a woman had surprised him.

He based the standards of this new world on the Middle Ages and therefore expected the Chief of the Druid Village to be a man. And even the appearance betrayed his expectations since Erice did not look like a druid as understood in the various traditions and folklore.

"You've been observing me since I entered the cell," Erice turned slightly to watch Yuto out of the corner of her eyes.

The guards escorting them rattled their spears. A threat that Yuto found more fun than scary. Maybe they thought the handcuffs that were tightening his wrists would block him.

"I'm just surprised that the leader of this community is a woman," Yuto replied.

Well, he knew several women who had been Kings or more simply warriors and leaders like his mother and sister although they both kept the fact that both were born as women a secret.

In this case, however, the person who most resembled Erice's position was the Rider of his Holy Grail War.

Inwardly, Yuto growled at the memory of Medb, hoping Erice wasn't a bitch like her.

"But I think gender isn't important," Yuto replied. "What matters is having the qualities."

Her lips opened slightly to amazement.

Arriving in a larger room, Yuto was pushed inside by one of the guards.

He ignored the fact that they were looking at him with disparaging looks. It wasn't worth making a mess for people he didn't care about.

Although not welcoming, this room was at least lit up. It was practically empty, with only a table in the middle and two chairs on the longer sides. A guard brought another chair. Erice sat while Yuto and Claire sat in front of her.

Putting aside the friendliness, Erice had to carry out her job as chief. As such, the first thing she had to do was ascertain Yuto's intentions. Yes, just yours because she had the idea that the little girl who had accompanied her emanated the aura of a duckling following her mother.

"Very well, this is a full-blown interrogation," Erice said as he put on the table the coffins of Yuto and Claire and the bow alone. "Where are you from?" he began.

"From the Kingdom of Léon," Yuto replied.

The Kingdom of Léon was the kingdom in which Yuto and Claire lived. It was a rather small kingdom compared to others, but it had a favourable position since it was located on the border of four other kingdoms, making it a strategic location for a possible conquest.

"Were you sent by the King or by some local Nobles?" Erice asked.

"The only times I deal with them is when they come to disturb my tranquillity," Yuto answered immediately. "It may sound strange but, I can't care less what they say, do or think until I'm directly involved."

Just as she thought. Erice expected a negative answer or a blatant lie. Based on what her father had taught her over the years, the enemy used to gain trust and then stab you in the back when you didn't expect it.

"The scouts saw you arrive on the back of a dragon," Erice asked.

Yuto didn't need her to tell him. He understood that because they had been followed from the moment they set foot on the island.
