Erice opened and closed her mouth, unable to say anything. Her mind was white as a clean sheet, unable to elaborate a rational thought at the sight of the world of swords looming endlessly before her eyes.

"To be a magus means walking beside death," Yuto said as he walked toward the hill that rose before them. "My foster mother Rin was one like my father and me. This world is the legacy my father left me at the moment of his death. Please don't reveal it to anyone."

Erice swallowed nervously and nodded.

In fact, she felt that nothing good would happen if someone discovered the existence of that world. Although she was not a mage, in the sense that she possessed magical energy but did not know how to use it, she could feel that some of those swords were out of scale for any magical weapon created by mankind.

"The reason I brought you here is not just to show you this," Yuto continued. "Here we can talk without anyone listening."

Yuto had decided to reveal everything to Erice. He hoped that once Erice had heard his story and understood how dangerous Morgan was, she would be convinced to let him leave. The fact was that the presence of dragons limited Morgan's actions, so the island was a safe place for Claire.

"My life has been a continuous rush forward without ever looking back. I lost my parents when I was a child and was adopted by Rin. For the next ten years, I studied everything I could learn, outdoing my mother, and I used that knowledge to kill the bastard who killed my parents."

Erice looked down as they continued climbing the hill, eventually reaching the top and standing in front of a more radiant sword than the others. That sword was Excalibur, a copy that Yuto had registered in the event of losing the original.

"Later I found out that the killer was only the executor but the mastermind behind that night was Morgan," Yuto said, as he made a pained expression at just remembering the events of his past. "My mother was the King of Knights and Morgan was her older sister who wanted to claim the throne of Britain for herself."

"So you would be a prince and you are a hindrance for your aunt, wouldn't you?" Erice reasoned carefully.

Yuto shook his head. "That's not true. She wants this world and then she will go back to the past to create an invincible army," Yuto said as he turned and watched the vastness of Unlimited Blade Works. "And she won't hesitate to use every way to get what she wants." Erice noticed Yuto's sad expression. "Erice, I thank you for saving Claire's life, but you had to let Andrew kill me. This way-"

SLAP.

Yuto stopped abruptly when Erice slapped him hard.

"Your past is sad and I pity you, yet do you think that sacrificing yourself will make you look like a hero or a martyr?" Erice clenched her fists, and her hands trembled with rage. "The image of you that will pass will be the figure of a suicidal fool."

Yuto looked away from the ground. She was right and he didn't even have a guarantee that Morgan would give up once he died.

"You're right, but there's another reason why I'm here," Yuto said, trying to hide his concern. "Claire watched her family die in front of her eyes. Even though she doesn't seem to think about it now, she could really want to take revenge in the future. And I'm afraid of that."

"You want to save her, don't you?" Yuto nodded at Erice's question.

Yuto knew what it meant to lose everything. He had done his best to ensure that she did not have the same feelings that had nourished him and that they would not allow her to see the rest, but he was not sure that he had succeeded.
